Barabanschikova leads 7-6 (1) 2-0 against Bovina at the moment...

She will playing qualifying of the Australian Open? If so, what would she do if she wins the match? The qualifying start tomorrow.

I think she will stop in Sydney, sh ewould play Panova in the quarter, which is very winabe, means semi points, which is way more than she would earn by going to oz open !!

Assuming this result is correct - it's a big upset!

I know they will not count the points that she earns here at the Oz open, what I am saying is she is more likely to earn more points here and has a better chance of gettting more points by continuing to play here than she has if she withdraws and goes and plays qualifiying!! She should forego the Oz open and try to continue her run here!!

True but the Australian Open is a Grand Slam event which is more important...

seems Olga chose to play in Sydney... sad that she will miss the Open but after struggling for so long with injuries I guess what is most important for her is rankings and confidence, which she can perhaps gain more easily right now in Sydney...

for Olga right now ranking is more important than taking part in a slam, she could go there and lose first round qualies and it would be a waste of time for her!!

Olga will miss out now in qualies  but this win is a big one.
longer term this is bigger and will lead her to more success.
