Has anyone seen her play this week I saw at Hopman she played well. But my question is do you think she is playing well enough to beat a top10 player if she draws one of them in the first round at AO? I know she beat Hantuchova, but Dani didn't play well at all.

Also how high do you think her ranking can climb?
Do you think she can beat top 5 players?

She has been so impressive...to me at least...this week...I haven't seen her play but her results speak by themselves I guess..What has she changed in her style of play ? Has she started to work out more ? It just seems like a fairy tale..Too good to be true :)

Her forehand has improved and has her mobility

She's playing great. I saw some of her matches at the Hopman Cup. I think she can stretch the top 10 players. Beating them is another different story. She needs mental strength for that + her current game.

Molik keeps up ace barrage
By DAVID STOCKDALE and AAP

RISING star Alicia Molik could be in the world's top 20 by the end of the year.
That's the opinion of Moorilla International top seed Katarina Srebotnik, whom Molik thrashed yesterday 6-3 6-0 in a second-round clash at Hobart's Domain Tennis Centre. It followed the South Australian's 48-minute demolition of defending champion Martina Sucha, of Slovakia, 6-1 6-2 the previous evening.
It took Molik only two minutes longer to dispose of the Slovenian and included 14 sizzling aces.
The 36th-ranked Srebotnik, who has played against Molik at junior and senior level, was in awe of her opponent.
"If she continues to play like that, she will be in the top 20 by the end of the year," Srebotnik said.
Molik said: "I felt as though I could put the ball on a dime out there, you know, wherever I wanted to serve it."
Molik's quarter-final opponent is young Russian fifth seed Vera Zvonareva.

she can't beat top 10 players when they are in form. she still needs to work on mobility, although it is 100% better already but she also needs to work on her backhand.

but she can definately be a top 20 player maybe even top 15.

Dizz, Jeca was never really an Ozzie in spirit. She's the closet thing the WTA has to a "stateless person" (not 2B confused with defacto dual nationals like Anna and Marti). And IMO Katarina could be a lot better with a real coach, not Tina "remember, you're in the doubles with me, too" Krizan.

Molik through to Hobart final

Friday 10 January 2003, 06:05AM

Alicia Molik has won her way into the Moorilla International Women's tennis tournament final with a fluctuating three-set win over Czech Iveta Benesova in Hobart.
On Friday night, the Adelaide 21-year-old will bid for her first WTA title when she meets American second seed Amy Frazier.
Molik beat Benesova 6-1 4-6 6-3 in a rain-interrupted match in which each player took turns in domination.
After Benesova held her opening serve, Molik reeled off nine games straight.
At 4-1 in the second an easy win looked certain.
But the Czech left-hander suddenly found her radar with her punishing backhand and Molik's big serve went off the boil.
Benesova won five games straight from 1-4 to level the match.
The third was tight until, with Benesova serving at deuce and 2-3, rain stopped play.
The interruption seemed to change the momentum with Molik immediately breaking after the resumption and twice holding serve for the match.
Molik said that if she could maintain her form of the last two weeks she would have a good chance against the more experienced Frazier.

Best of luck to both finalists! :)

What type of game does she play? A huge serve no?

Katarina is still young. But she doesn't have a coach? Or is it Tina K?

IMO, Katarina Srebotnik should be in the top 20-30 as well.

From the looks of interviews and TV stories (which was lots of both during the Hopman Cup) she seems like she has a bubbly personality and could very eaisly be installed by the media etc. as the 'poster girl' for Aussie Women's tennis ... they have Lleyt for the Men and now someone needs to step up, after all, Dokic and family left us quite a while ago ;)
So perhaps (hopefully!!) if she wins today it'll all begin ;)
If not, we always have 'Aussie Kim' - for the moment, the closest we have to a top 10 Aussie Women's player ;)
