angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 12:57 AM
It's only 10 p.m but I'm tired :o

I think there's a 12 hour difference between here and Perth so it's pretty easy to calculate for me lol

Where in Australia are you Mark?

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 12:58 AM
Adelaide

The players are warming up

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:00 AM

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:04 AM
Yeah I'm watching it on TV...should i post scores??

Im an Adelaide boy, same as Lleyton and Alicia :)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:07 AM
you can maybe post scores every so often during Alicia's match... unless somebody wants point my point  I'd just like to have an idea of what's going on... and also of who's in the crowd ;)

Adelaide is #1 on my list of places I'd love to visit :D

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:11 AM
Really?? Adelaide's OK, not too bad, but not that exciting either...

Silvia leads 2-0 :(

They haven't showed anyone in the crowd yet

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:16 AM
Well Adelaide is in Australia and to me, Australia = Heaven :D And plus, Lleyton is in Adelaide ;) No but really, I'd love to visit Australia :D

C'mon Alicia, get back into it :bounce:

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:22 AM
Hehe...I bet the only reason u wanna go here is to stalk Lleyton, huh?? ;) ;) Australia IS heaven :) If u go here, u should try visiting Melbourne, Sydney, Gold Coast as well

Silvia leads 3-2 (with a break)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:25 AM
Come on Alica :(

Not *only* to stalk Lleyton ;) :p When I do visit Australia I'd like to be there for a few months and just go everywhere :D

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:30 AM
Yeah that'd be so cool. Maybe I could tour u around Australia (if u pay for my ticket) :p ;) I haven't even been to Sydney or Gold Coast, only Melbourne :( It's too damn expensive

Alicia leads now, 4-3 :)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 01:41 AM
If it's expensive for you to get from Adelaide to Sydney, imagine how expensive it would be coming from Canada  In fact I was looking at plane tickets the other day and the seem to be at a very minimum $3 000

  $3000 ????  Damn! Poor u...but if u do spend $3000 to go here, it will be well worth it. But I'd rather spend $3000 on a car than a holiday

Alicia takes 1st set 6-3 :bounce:

Silvia leads 2-1 in second set

BTW, Kim's in the stands watching. She's in the box of the Australian team, and the commentator was like, "How did she get in the Australian box" Hehe. Silvia's partner is watching too, but Lleyton's nowhere to be seen...

Kim :D :D

Well $3 000 is a lot :( I doubt I'll be getting to Australia very soon because like you pointed out, there are a lot of ways I could use that money and right now, putting it towards university seems like the smartest choice :) But once I'm older and settled I'll probably go :D

And it seems $3000 is the bare minimum that a plane ticket would cost... I just checked on a website an prices are mostly in the $3500-$5000... that's a hell of a lot

Yeah so going to Australia anytime before I'm safely out of college is out of the question :( I really hope to be able to get there someday though :) And the sad thing is that the prices i listed are just for plane tickets.... that doesn't include transportation, hotels, food etc... :(

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:16 AM
Alicia :D :D

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:23 AM
Yeah, go to university first, that's more important.

Don't worry about food, hotel and transpo. U can stay with me ;) That will save u some money :)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:35 AM
Thanks for the offer

And I've just discovered that different times of the year yield different prices for plane tickets :D

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:36 AM
Like going in December/January is around 5000 but going in May or July is only about 2500... big difference :D

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:39 AM
U should probably go when it's cheapest. It doesn't really matter what time of the year u go, it's the same all year round. But it's probably good to go in the summer so u can try out our beaches :)

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:41 AM
That's too bad coz our summer is in December/January (and u could have visited the OZ Open).

But it's still fine in June/July, but it is quite cold

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:41 AM
Your summer is the most expensive time to go though :( Although I've just found out that there are special prices available for students which ta da, I am :D

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:44 AM
When ( or if ;) ) I go to Australia, I'll probably save up the extra money and go during your summer because 1) I'd like to be able to catch some tennis and 2) be able to enjoy the beaches and the warm weather... and the biggest reason I want to go to Australia is not to visit museums or anything indoors but rather the wonders of mother nature so visiting when it's cold would definetly not be ideal lol

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:47 AM
That's good, u should try to take advantage of that.

Hewitt leads 1-0 :)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:48 AM
GO LLEYTON :D

I'll take advantage of anything that I can take advantage of lol... I'm determined to get to Australia one way or another.... it doesn't have to be now but I will get there :D

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:49 AM
Yeah, its great here during the summer. If u wanna enjoy mother nature, summer's the time to go. Everything seems so dead here in the winters

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:51 AM
Hehe, just make sure u don't get too determined to get here, to the point u do sometihng crazy ;) like secretly going on a plane or swimming across the Pacific Ocean :)

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 02:53 AM
That's probably when I'll go then :D And I might as well because chances that I go before I'm out of university are slim to none because a) Money would be scarce and b) actually finding the time to go would be hard... so I'll probably end up only going when I'm older and have a job and am settled so by that time, what's an extra couple of thousand to have the holiday of my dreams?

:D

SORRY to butt in, angele, but if you check out pacesetters.com, they could hook you up with a r/t ticket to Oz, for btwn 14-1700. That's what I paid when I flew down there last year, and that's what I'm paying when I go back - in time to see the Oz open Ladies Finals in Melbourne - WOO HOO!!!!! (that price is fm Toronto, it's at least 2-300$ cheaper from Vancouver.)

Oh, and you're right - Australia = Heaven

angele87
Dec 29th, 2002, 03:00 AM
Hi sideout :wavey: Don't worry about butting in! I can use any advice I can get and I will definetly look up that website. However I'd be flying from Halifax so it would probably be more expensive that what you paid!

MaRKy MaRk
Dec 29th, 2002, 03:01 AM
True. If ur gonna have the holiday of your dreams, u might as well spend some money on it. It's not everyday that u get to go on a holiday, so what's a few thousand dollars *cough* :)

Yeah the TV lights went out. But there were a few lights still on, so it wasn't pitch black. They couldn't continue coz it was pretty dark, and it was pretty dim on TV

I forgot what they said...I think it was a power surge in Perth.

4-1 Lleyton

Kim didn't say anything we didn't know. She said she's feeling really good physically both on and off the court. She said Australia felt like a second home to her and she's been here since November 18. She was asked if she considered playing for OZ, and she said, "Never say never, but not in the near future"

She said the Williams sisters have brought the game to a whole new level. She was happy to win the end of year championships over Serena, because it was important for her to end the year well because of her injuries. And she said it showed her that Serena wasn't unbeatable after losing to her a few times before.

Her goal last year was to end in the top 10, so she was even happier to end in the top 5. She was asked if she ever thinks of coming second because of the WS (as in golf with Tiger Woods), and she said NO, there's no point of going out there if u think like that. She said she's looking forward to playing Serena here coz she loves playing the WS, she gets very motivated.

She said she's lucky to have Lleyton and they never talk tennis off court. And she was impressed that he finished no. 1 again. And to reach another GS final, she'll have to improve her level in the 2nd week and maintain her fitness, and that's what she's been working on....
