Be serious man. Queen Agnieszka is now the only important player in womens tennis...

It's a shame that in tennis, all that matters is who wins the last point of the match.

Emma is such a nice girl! She was traveling the world this year with little success but she now only needs another point to get a WTA ranking.

I know it's qualies and all, but a local player vs a former champion on a weekend I'd expect some people in the stands, like 2 or 3 at least

I went to the qualies there a few years ago, wasn't much better then. There's a few good matches, and I'm not sure if it is anymore, but it used to be free plus you can see the top players practice on the side courts.

Two things.

A) It's warm. Why would you want to go along and sit on the one concrete, uncovered stand, when you can sit at the ends of the court, in seats, under a covered stand away from the sun.

B) The past two years they have started charging $5 for entry into the center court for qualies, but have kept the outer courts free of charge. Idiotic. Qualies should be free, always. But I guess they're looking to cover their losses using any means possible. People flock to the outer courts to watch closely contested matches, rather than watching some local scrub get shit on, on centre court.

In saying that though - the crowds for qualifying are usually excellent. 2000 people plus has been the norm for about the last 6 years.

What year was this? They are usually excellent.

Although I can't vouch for this year as I don't live in Auckland any more and am unable to attend.
