View Full Version : Which player do you miss most?

MashaAzarenka
Dec 29th, 2012, 01:21 AM
Just a little poll to see which player is missed the most by fans :) Please no bashing players! If you voted for "Other" please comment which player you miss that's not listed. Obviously a lot of favorites have been left out but I was going for more recently retired players instead of the old legends haha.

Haha they could both fall under the "other" category. I miss Seles as well, but like I said I was thinking more recently retired players. I could only use 10 spots in the poll but trust me there are a bunch more that I would have listed if I could!

Lindsay Davenport because her groundstrokes were so amazing they were competitive since the mid-90s and even in '08 she was schooling players like Caro and Ana with her technical perfection. Followed by Vaidisova - most entertaining generation suck player (aside from Petra) hands down.

Elena was my fave but I don't miss her playing tennis. Her game had staled and it was the right time for her to retire.

This is exactly how I feel! I definitely miss Lindsay the most out of everyone. Her game was just incredible. I loved the power she had on court. Vaidisova was so good back in the day, I really had high hopes for her to win a major. As for Elena, I miss her as a person but her game was going down the drains before she retired so I agree that it was her time :)

I became interested in Women's Tennis in 2005 and back then that whole new WTA World was so fascinating for me. Therefore I miss quite a lot of players who where playing well back then, like Davenport, Pierce, Dementieva, Myskina, Schnyder etc. I really started following Tennis during the European Fall Indoor string in 2005 when none of the WS-Sisters was playing plus the YEC in Los Angeles was my first big highlight of the WTA. So I guess it won't be that bad for me when the Williams-Sisters retire, however it's gonna be hard when the likes of Hantuchova and Petrova retire

However, I am obviously missing Nicole, Tatiana, Agnes and Alona the most. I keep watching Videos on Youtube from 2006 and 2007 :sobbing:

Out of the list Kimmie.

Personally Kimmie + Capriati.

Their games were so interesting to watch.

Insanely good defenders with the ability to go on the offense just as easily (Though mentally both tended to avoid being aggressive more than they should have...)

They both (especially Capriati) made for some good entertaining matches.

My honorable Mention would be Henin. Versatility + Power was a joy to watch.

powerpuff27
Jan 1st, 2013, 10:59 PM
Hingis for sure. Still only 32 i think...shud be out there winning French Opens this year and for last few,

Hingis came back at 25 and wasnt even close to winning a slam in her 2 years back, reached a few quarterfinals, why on earth would you assume a 30 something Hingis who would have played 2 or 3 years of tennis in the last decade would be wining Roland Garros, or any other slam. If Henin, a way better clay courter than Hingis ever was, and a way better player than Hingis period when both last played full time in 06 and 07, couldnt come back and win Roland Garros, Hingis sure as heck wasnt doing it.

powerpuff27
Jan 1st, 2013, 11:01 PM
I guess of that list I would say Henin and Dementieva, but seriously none of those women on the list would be playing prime level tennis at this point, only special gods like Serena play their best tennis in their 30s, so unless one could magically make them all many years younger, I am fine with them all being retired.

Every sport needs a bad guy. Star Wars is nothing without Darth Vader.

Today there really aren't any bad, evil people on tour that you can muster up dislike for.

Justine Henin is such a cheat, hateful, mean person that even her family didn't like her. And the fact that she is divorced is not surprising. She deliberately cheated Serena out of a FO title in 2003. And she is so mean and distrustful, not even Kim Clijsters could get along with her.
