Mariana alves and Ronald McDonald.

Nobut in all seriousness Serena making 18 slams isn't a question of will she it's how long will it take her?

any competent player who won't choke when they are in position to win (Zheng, cough, Azarenka, cough)

It's almost impossible to beat her at Wimbledon and very difficult to beat her at the other Slams. So nobody is going to stop her from reaching 18 Slams. But you can't even say that it's a great achievement for her since she owns every top player right now :tape:

I can imagine her winning the first three slams then Goatoli beating her in New York somehow since she loves being the spoiler. :oh:

Marion already beat her at Wimbledon in 2011, so it's not happening ever again. Serena won't allow it ;)

Serena will not be able to withstand Wozniackis amazing defensive capabilities. Seriously though the only person stopping Serena is Serena. If she can avoid injuries and stay focused a calendar year grand slam is not out of the question. Roland Garros will be tricky though.

In all honesty, only her body will stop her from reaching no.18 even being a Masha fan, seeing what Rena did during the second half of the season - and if she can keep that form - there's no stopping her
though I do think if she reaches 18 she'll either retire or play less

The only thing that can stop her to get that 18th and more slam is herself and her body.

I really want Rena to encounter a well-playing, healthy Vee! That could potentially throw a spanner in the works.

Anyway, she won't win RG and I don't think she'll win all of the other three. She'll probably win probably 2 slams in '13.

1/what abouat doubles?
2/As regards my delusions about Aga and Ula I've read such diagnosis too often. And most of the times somehow very soon they were able to prove that the accuser deserves this name.
What if you are wrong in assesing their capabilities? Do you take into account such a possibility?

The only obvious is it wont be Sharapova, but beyond that who knows, both whether she will make it or not, or if she doesnt who it was that stopped her or combined to stop her.

sweetadri06
Dec 28th, 2012, 10:36 PM
Only her body/age. If she is playing until 2016, then she has 16 chances to get it done.

What does doubles have to do with Serena winning 18 GS singles titles?
I can maybe believe Aga has some sort of chance to beat Serena but Ula, seriously?

Injury is the only thing that will stop her. Once Serena gets on a roll, that's the only thing that stops her.

People talk about journey women but that's only when she hasn't been match tough and she's still trying to regain her top form.

What do you think her chances of the Calendar Slam are this year. I know alot of people say she cant win RG, but since her win in 2002:

2003- barely lost to Henin, the best clay courter of last 15 years by far.
2004- lost to her career nemisis Capriati in quarters.
2005 and 2006- DNP, although those were Henin years anyway.
2007- lost to Henin again.
2008- ok a rare bad loss.
2009- lost tough 3 setter to Kuznetsova, arguably 2nd best clay courter of her era.
2010- lost tough 3 setter to Stosur after blowing match point, Sam who had beaten Justine and ripped through the draw playing the tournament of her life until the final flop.
2011- DNP
2012- ok her 2nd true bad loss since 2002.

The clay courters of today are not at the same level as Henin or prime Kuznetsova, so there is no reason she shouldnt believe in her chances. Apart from the 2 fluke losses, there is nobody left today who should beat her. Sam Stosur will be getting a Serena hell bent on revenge after the U.S Open final and her own version of the hand, and unlike Henin, the only person who visibly spurned Serena in a big way and survived their future encounters with some success, she is no way good enough to withstand a Serena extra focused and with a bullseye on her, if Sharapova (another who is paying the harsh price for intentionally or unintentionally p-ing Serena off) isnt, Stosur sure is heck aint.

That's three next season. Probably not. Vika will take one HC. She'll lose another one to herself or Maria. In great form as she is 2 slams would still be a very good achievement.

In order from most - least likely:

Injury
Azarenka
Venus
Kvitova gets it together
Peak Stosur
Peak Na

I would have a different order:

Injury
Randsom shit performance for no reason, especialy at RG where she seems a bundle of nerves sometimes
Random choke in decent match from winning position at RG especialy
Kvitova gets it together (which isnt likely to happen at all, but if she does is a bigger threat to Serena than Azarenka can be)
Peak Na (which isnt likely at all to appear but if she does)
a somewhat fit and amazingly came back to form Venus at Wimbledon or U.S Open only
Azarenka
Kerber
Wozniacki- laugh but she plays Serena well

Azarenka should not be overrated in the matchup with Serena. She gave her a close match once, I dont think it means much in the big picture when she has lost something like 9 or 10 matches in a row. Li Na regularly gives Serena tougher matches than Vika does, even when Na is playing crappy (often Serena is too, but Na is good at bringing other players down to her error spewing BS level somehow). Heck Azarenka is probably almost as much a non threat to Serena as Sharapova currently is.

Patrick Mouratoglou.

Serena already reached 18 thirteen years ago, but Patrick can always say " hunny, you look sooo young and sooo lovely, just like a 17 yo" ( while caressing Serena's butts).
