Beauty Queen Aggie will play her first tournament of 2013 season in Auckland.

"This in a new tournament in my calendar, i've never been there. It's a refreshing change, because i visit same hotels, clubs and courts every year. I'll treat this tournament like a good training."

After Auckland, the next stop of Aggie will be Sydney tournament (700k $), but the main goal of tricky Pole is Australian Open, which begins a week after Sydney.

"Thoughts are always rotating around the winning the tournament, especially when I'm seeded 4th. Today it's hard to tell what will happen. The most important thing is to play so good, that i won't blame myself for nothing. But yes, I think I'm able to finally win a Grand Slam, and it would be nice to make it at Australian Open".

Meanwhile, little sis Urszula, is very happy that she is seeded at AO for the first time in her career.

"It is very nice, I am so happy that I will avoid meeting Agnieszka or Serena in the first round. But I must say that I'm little scared about weather forecasts. When playing in 40-degrees heat, you fight not only your opponent, but mainly yourself.

About the favourite, i think Agnieszka has a chances to win the title, but the main favourite is Serena Williams, if she will recover after surgery to be able to play. "

OK. Then it is the language barrier or something lost in translation.

I think she meant "I think I will be able to win the Australian Open"

I think she meant "I think I will be able to win the Australian Open"

so "I think I'm able to win the AO" would indicate that she already won it? (serious question, I would translate it just like the op)

You misunderstood my post. I have NO Polish language proficiency. None. I never suggested such a thing.

I was just suggesting for it to make sense it should read "... I will be able to win..." rather than "..I am able to win..."

I think you jump the gun there. But that is OK

last 3 matches Aga played against Masha definitely doesn't prove she's unbeatable. And Maria's last finals performances show that "epic choke" is nothing epic but an everyday routine for her

Radwanska was really tired after match vs. Maria + it was really slow surface. Slower than AO.

she came pretty close last year by pushing Vuvurenka to 3 sets in excessive heat...who's to say that being as fit as she is, she wouldn't outlast some very tired superior player when it matters?

When is Aga going to stop being the joke of TF? Look I've called her Queen Vulture in the past but since Wimbledon and that match against Kerber in Tokyo, I've become a 'slight fan', shall we say. I just think alot of people never give her enough credit for being able to keep up with people who hit hard. If you watch that match with Kerber, you will realise Aga's potential, she just hasn't had a chance to showcase it that much because she has to work with what she's got , the style of the player on the other side.

I don't understand why people take enjoyment in making fun of people for making comments like these. If any tennis player does not believe in themselves to this degree, they might as well pack their bags and go home. To travel all year long, hit the gym every day, hit countless tennis balls, I'd hope there would be some over confidence. Or else they wouldn't survive and we'd have no sport to enjoy.

She needs to take more risk with the second serve. For the Masha's, Rena's, Renka's and Kvitova's that thing sits up for a free winner opportunity usually. Then maybe it's not outside the realm of possibility.

I also really don't understand the people who make fun of her for saying she can win the AO. Of course she's going to say that; she's #4 in the world and has been to a GS final in the past year.

I would much rather she had that attitude than Tsonga's before the French Open.

Its not that farfetched ... in reality, once (if) Sereta loses than anyone can win.
Sharapova already has her injury lined up, Azarenka may or may not live up to last year (50/50), and Ludmilla is now a joke.
