Doesn´t sound good, but kind of what I expected. She tried the rest approach already last year and it did not work. I assume she´ll eventually have to make the decision surgery or retirement. To be honest she should have had surgery immediately after the Olymics. It´s been a waste of 6-7 months already.

That was such a great idea last summer doing a short shoulder rehab then coming back just to play 1-2 matches in Wimbledon & Olympics. Jsut wasting her time. #shitplayersdo

but she was capable to ditch Sergei so no surprise she is a mess.

It is sad but let's be realistic she is as Mr. Bitchell points out 'so done'. Shoulder injury is like automatic retirement add that she is 28 and the situation becomes so tragically grim

I wonder if it's possible that she's just waiting until February so that she's eligible for a protected ranking?

Vincey!

Too bad but it's better to not see her play, than watching her retiring or losing early.

Hmm I think not unfortunately. She actually put herself in the q draw for Hobart so I think she was going to try and start again.

I hope her shoulder gets better soon and that she doesn't need surgery even if that's a small chance.

Yeah she's done. She took advantage of the state of the tour between 2009-2011 so kudos to her. She made the most of her capabilities. There's just no room for her at the top anymore.

So you think it's coincidence Bepa's best years just happen to be in that terribly weak period? And even then she wasn't really that amazing?

It was not weaker than since till 6 months ago when Serena really came back and won everything IMO.

There's just no room for her at the top anymore.Top 3 would be hard right now, she could certainly reach top 5 again though. But being 28 time is running out unfortunately, she'll need to get healthy soon and stay healthy for some time to do this. I'd love to see her back in the mix again.

just a coincidence she hasnt played good since she made the brilliant decision that two coaches are better than one

Huh? The poster wasn't saying the reason Vera has fallen is because there's no room at the top for her, they were saying that even if she was fully healthy, there'd be no room for her to get to the heights she did in 2010 with how much stronger the game at the top now is.

Vera's best ever tennis was late 2008/early 2009 anyway, so it speaks volumes about how much weaker the game was in 2010 that she was able to post better results even while playing worse tennis. Her ballstriking was AMAZE at times in the '08 indoors season and in Australia in '09, whereas in 2010 she never did anything more than play smart, solid, composed tennis rather than anything outstanding.
