Technically they aren't eligible because they opted out of the WC playoff. Jarka is planning to play qualies..whether that actually happens though is a different story, but they shouldn't be getting WCs

Jarka said that she is planning to play qualies but she has received a WC in Brisbane.

Jarka said that she is planning to play qualies but she has received a WC in Brisbane.

She said that because she can not enter in the main draw directly anywhere.

No way she is turning down main draw WC

Jones also did pull out of the playoff

Rodiononova said she had issues with health.
Jarka was in USA and said she wasn't ready yet, shes got a new coach Antonio van Grichen and says that shes been working really hard lately
TA will probably give them a WC because they know that they both can go far in slams.

I actually would think it would be better if Barty didn't get a WC and was in the Qdraw.

I agree, but that would never happen :)
It really should be:
Liv, Yuxuan, Maddie, French, Sacha, Liv, Boj and Anastasia
Ash can do well in qualies and so can Jarka
Why should tennis Australia waste a WC oN Jarka when she probably won't win and it won't do any good for her confidence

Anastasia Rodionova deserves a MD WC more than Rogowska! She won far more matches in WTA main draws and Grand Slam matches last year.
As far as I'm concerned An Rodionova is the only player that should definitely get one. Gajdosova should be next, but I applaud her if she is playing qualifying, it would be a smart move since she needs matches, and as someone mentioned she is now exempt? unlike An Rodionova who was recovering from an injury. So I guess then Jones, Rogowska, Barty and Adamczak can fight it off for the remaining 3 WC's in Brisbane! You'd think Barty is favoured ahead of Rogowska, so in theory if Jarmila doesn't take a MD WC the last one will be between Jones and Adamczak!

I would thing Rogowska would just get one because she is defending R2 points + she just missed the cut.

Already 25 y/o and 334 rank still.

Would be a pipe dream if Bojana were to qualify, but good luck anyhow.

Rodionova should NOT get a wildcard. Handouts should not go to 30-year-old players, period. Ditto with journeywomen like Adamczak.

So you've got the US, Asian and French wildcards, plus Bobusic. Barty, Jones and Rogowska are the obvious choices for three of them. And even Gajdosova's 2012 was horrible, that was due to injury/personal hell. Plus, this is her hometown tournament. I think it would be smarter for her to play qualies, but she's certainly deserving of a WC in my opinion.

No other viable options besides that.

This. Especially when she has not scored a top 100 win since last May. Unless Cohen was still top 100 at the USO, I can't remember :oh:

I can't wait to see what happens with these WC's :oh: Olivia & Ash are absolute locks. I think they'll just pick Jarka & Anastasia because they've done well for Oz the past few years

I'm not saying that's what should happen - just what I think they will do.

Woww... I'm surprised Muglacqua didn't "snatch" (hehe get it?) this WC up like she does with every tourney including the Botswana F25 Qualifying WC :o

She almost made the top 200 in 2011 but was out for 4 months this year with injury (and struggled a bit post-comeback too) hence the lower ranking.

Are you on Nastya Rodionova's payroll by any chance?

Are you on Nastya Rodionova's payroll by any chance?

LOL no, but you can't disagree that her and Jarmila are far more experienced players that have proven themselves and easily deserve WC's. The fact that Anastasia has never needed a WC to the Aust Open before IMO strengthens her case, as this would be her first request.
Nastya was very unlucky last year drawing the number 1 seed in the 1st round of Aust Open and again at Wimbledon and I think she is better than her ranking, and finished the year well going 12-6 from US Open.
Where as Rogowska has done nothing since March, apart from doing well in the weak Aussie $25K's beating nobodies.

Gosh, if you are 30 you are certainly a more experienced player and if you haven't proved yourself at that age I don't really know when you are going to do it :help:

Nastya was very unlucky last year drawing the number 1 seed in the 1st round of Aust Open and again at Wimbledon

I think drawing a slumping Cohen in the USO actually makes up for that. And what the heck? she did lose a tight 3 set match against a hysteric Johansson in the French Open 1st round :spit:

TS
Dec 18th, 2012, 10:08 AM
^ Not to mention a couple of her other main draw wins were against doubles specialist Abigail Spears at Birmingham, and mega slumping Iryna Bremond in Pattaya. Her best wins for the year were against 30+ year olds Greta Arn, Melinda Czink, Anabel Medina Garrigues, and, uh yeah, Julia Cohen.

Honesty, if you break down her year there is nothing special about it at all. Which her 140 rank suggests.
