Worst shots in your repertoire?

My serve can be shakey but that's down the list honestly. I'm a left-hander with 2HBH, and my worst shots are probably, in order:

1. Backhand volley (single-handed)
2. Backhand DTL
3. Forehand DTL
4. Forehand volley

I think there's hope for #3. I can hit them, just not that well from a neutral position. I certainly can't blast it like I can my up the middle or crosscourt shots. I think in time I'll be able to hit this pretty well though.

Volleys and slice, mostly because I hardly ever hit them.

My forehand can be dreadful at times, my serve sucks too. Backhand is good, but I really need to improve the serve.

My serve and my backhand volley

Seriously can anyone give me tips for serving because it is one of my only easily exposed weaknesses and if it became even half way decent I could have a much higher ranking and win matches much more frequently and easily :tape: :help:

Ive tried the kick serve on the ad side and it really seems to work for me I just have to perfect it! :bounce:

Everythings is all around good but I need to improve my backhand, when I get footwork right it's fine but when I am too early or too late it flops.

Smash. Which is weird as my serve is one of my 2 big strengths.

All of the 'touch' shots.....slice, volleys.

I can't hit an inside-out forehand to save my life, so I usually just hit a backhand which is far superior.

2nd serve :sobbing: mostly considering my 1st serve is quite a good shot :spit:
BH on clay  it's quite a good shot on fast surfaces because I can use opponent's power with it, but I struggle to generate my own path so on clay it just sucks.
Volleying...just poor.

1. Volleys (I always hit drive volleys :sobbing:)
2. Slices
3. Drop shot
4. Back hand cross court.

My back hand cross court is either Maria or Stosur, there is no medium, more often than not it's Stosur.

My backhand by far, although my crosscourt BH has improved greatly over the last few years. I just have to remember to come to a complete stop before hitting the ball CC :help:

All of this. My slice. It's so bad. It's so, so bad. I did a group lesson once where we did nothing but hit slice forehands the whole time and I ended up looking like an idiot.

I have an excuse for #4 though, I had tendonitis in my left wrist so I'm afraid to hit my backhand CC very hard :oh:

Backhand open stance - Always flies long
Moonball - Can't get any depth or spin on mines :tape:
Drop shot - I just have no feel :tape:

Volleys, I basically miss 90% of them.

2nd serve is ridiculously attackable. 1st serve isn't great at all either. :tears:

Also, some trouble with forehand crosscourt (I like to hit DTL with it)

how could I forget moonballs? :sobbing: I am so terrible at them and I can't deal with them coming unless hitting another one back, which is a failure anyway :sobbing:

Second serve. Too poor. Because of my second serve, I serve often my first serve as second xD
My voleys and smash from the baseline. (I like to use In-side-out forehand, but I didn't play 3 months and I have all worst shots now :sobbing:)

Definitely my backhand, I have recently switched from one handed to two handed and wow it is way easier to hit the ball more accurately and strongly with the two handed.

Dropshot. I mean it's decent, but very rarely a clean winner, even when I get my opponent out of position.

high backhand volleys and second serves. Both are liable to end up anywhere. The backhand down the line can be rough at times as well.

No shame. Most players return moonballs with moonballs anyway :p.

I'm a right-handed player.

One-handed backhand is awful.

One-handed backhand slice is average.

Two-handed backhand is Top 3 in our Club.

...clearly I need to make sure I never hurt my left arm or I am screwed.

Why would you hit a one-handed backhand if it sucks and your two handed is great?

definitely volleys. i miss the easiest of volleys 80% of the time.
second serve deserts me sometimes (i hit the frame), no feel on drop shots unless its on clay.

All of this. My slice. It's so bad. It's so, so bad. I did a group lesson once where we did nothing but hit slice forehands the whole time and I ended up looking like an idiot.
i did a group lesson on backhands slices 2 or 3 years ago, everyone else could get the ball over the net, i couldn't :sobbing: :hysteric: fortunately i can do bh slices now.

I literally have all of the touch shots, just none of the power ones. Hence why my serves, forehand, and volleys aren't the best (all consistent and I can execute very tough slices and drop shots with volleys and the forehand, just not much power)

semprelibera

drop shots. They end up like mini lobs lol.

Uranium

Second serve is probably the worst. Drop shots are very on or off. Sometimes good, sometimes barely reach net or are lobs:lol: Lobs are the same; sometimes very good or really bad.

Pops Maellard
Jan 22nd, 2013, 01:39 AM
I forgot to add I'm bad when stretched out wide on the backhand side (I don't have the best reach on that side) so in that instance I hit a right-handed forehand instead of a backhand (like Sharapova except reverse :oh:). Surprisingly an OK shot I think .

My serve :oh:

I think my ball toss is worst than Ana. But I think it's more of the fact that I'm short and I don't jump :tape:

If I hold my racquet "mid" I tend to serve OK, but if I grip at the end my serves ALWAYS hits the tape.

My serve :oh:

I think my ball toss is worst than Ana. But I think it's more of the fact that I don't know how to serve :tape:

If play a lot I tend to serve OK, but if I don't my serves ALWAYS hits the tape, go long or fly out the fence.

I think it's changed. Now it's just my shot selection is awful. I was standing at the net during a doubles match and a FH volley came right to me, slightly above eye level, and I smashed it down as hard as I could. Into the net. At my feet.
