omg, Serena got outplayed and was sent home packing by Azarenka!!!! :( Back to the drawing board.

It was a great match with both players were so intense and so into the match, gave all they had on the court. The match was filled with dramas, ups and downs, changing the momentum from both ends and incredible rallies. Serena got ahead, but Vika showed that she has more heart, more mentally tough, changed to an extra gear and prevailed at the end when Serena appeared to run out of steam. Kudos to both players. Serena, good tournament, hope you have a better draws next week.

The fact that you believe a 31 year old, let alone one who's an athlete, would be soft and/or squishy.Jump to conclusions much?

How long have you been watching tennis, and what makes you think that "soft & squishy" was what I was referring to?
Have you seen some of the younger players such as Hanchukova or Ivanovic, for example.
And there have been some rather large players as well.
I understand what you're trying to do here, so just leave it at that and move on before this takes a turn for the worst. It's quite fine if you can't comprehend or make the distinction between fit professional bodies or ones that aren't. But a 31 year old athlete that has maintained a great toned and conditioned physique at that age is something to behold.

Nah - she loves them. Always playing in them. But it's not important who the winner is. The main point is being there, having a good time, for the people comint just to see you and of course to pick up a nice fat payment. Sometimes there's also a charity element. That's what these exhos are all about. They're not really matches. If it's a bit more of a serious exhibition - like when she last played the Hopman Cup - then she was playing to win.

MashaAzarenka
Dec 10th, 2012, 01:17 AM
I don't understand why everyone is fighting. This was just an exhibition, yes. Obviously neither player was trying as hard as they normally would in a match. But that doesn't mean you should take away from Vika's win. It also doesn't mean you should assume Vika is going to beat Serena in a real match any time soon. Anything is possible on the WTA tour, but everyone should keep it civil. :)

Many of the comments in this thread would suggest otherwise. Amazing amount of crap posted over an irrelevant match.

You are criticizing Serena for not giving her all in an EXHO match. Stop the bullshit, Dom.

Of course, fans pay to see that.

I didn't see the match Daniel, I only saw that Azarenka beats Serena which NEVER happens in a real match.

Thank you Serena :hearts:

It's actually 100% pure logic, Serena usually always beats Azarenka, now it's an exho, it doesn't count, she loses in straight sets, she obviously didn't give a damn.

It's unreasonable logic. You made a judgment about how Serena played though you didn't see Serena play. You attack Serena for not giving a damn, though it's an EXHO MATCH, of which is supposed to have a lighter, enjoyable atmosphere. Stop. The. Bullshit. Dom.

If you're going to criticize Serena for not putting forth maximum effort, then you need to criticize Azarenka for not putting forth Maximum effort as well. *but you wouldn't know if she tried her hardest because you didn't watch it, so your opinion is blind, baseless, and illogical.

It's based on the freakin' result. Maybe you think Serena gave her 100% and still lost to Azarenka in straights? Ok if that's what you think, you're allowed to your opinion.

I don't understand how their efforts are being questioned. Obviously if you're comparing how much they tried in this EXHIBITION MATCH compared to an actual match, the effort is much lower. Nobody gives 100% in exhibition matches. They're meant to be lighthearted and fun. So it's not fair to criticize either player for not trying their hardest.

The more I watch Azarenka, the more I like her.
And after viewing the highlights, it's very easy to see that both ladies were relaxed and having a nice exho match.

Aside...
It's not a good idea to try hard in these exho events anyway, as doing so increases the risk of off-season injuries.

Serena so lovely again...nothing to count...nice win for Azarenka, but she has no chance to win a real match.:bounce: And the way Azarenka wanted to celebrate crazily her win, but had to hide it because it was just an exhibition, she probably hardly managed to stay relaxed. :D

Two of the most glamorous women in tennis, Victoria Azarenka and Serena Williams will walk the ramp in a fashion show in Thailand.

Azarenka and Williams are also scheduled to play an exhibition match where the two contenders will delight the local Thai crowds with their tennis skills. World number one, Azarenka who visited Hua Hin last year said she had a great time earlier and is looking forward to the visit.

If these two women were taking home a million $$ each form this exho, you bet both would've given 100% effort ...for any1 who watched Serena in her Toronto exho, & both Vika & Serena at their Sao Paulo exho, would know the effort was 50% ...even the commies in Toronto took note!

Did you guys notice the effort Roger was putting into his exho matches, more than the invites? It must be the 6m he was gonna get!

Actually, I thought he put more effort into the entertainment side (e.g., the Tsonga match and also letting Bellucci win :)). Still, he had to work hard this whole event. Does have his name on it, so...that is to be expected.
