View Full Version : Aside from the serve, is there any part of Radwanska's game that is equal to Hingis'?

I'm watching some peak Legend just now and she is doing everything better ten years ago

She's craftier, has better anticipation, better movement, can hit harder when needed, better at the net, better fighter.

Yet Radwanska is sometimes referred to as Hingis 2.0

And Hingis is not referred to as Radwanska 0.5. You have your answer.

And I say this as someone who thinks Hingis, while a fantastic player, is and was vastly overrated.

I think Radwanska is better prepared physically....And she has great drop shots that are equal or slightly better than Hingis I think. But.other.than that, obviously Hingis is better on everything else.

Which match did.you watch? :oh:

Nope, better drop shots, better lobs, better volleys, better forehand, better backhand, no contest here. And better serve

How would Hingis fair on today's slow courts? Probably around what Radwanska's achieving.

Watch the first set against Venus USO 1999. She had 15/2 W/UE differential

I think radwanska is maybe the quicker of the two, but Hingis' anticipation makes her equal if not better in the movement department too

personally, I hate the comparison. Aga is no Hingis

No.

If tennis players were reptiles, Legend would be a beautiful coral snake with the deadly venom and bite to match, while Agatha would be a basic house gecko.

Anticipation is the only thing that vaguely resembles Hingis. But even then Hingis's footwork is leagues beyond, as is her general court perception.

Radwanska has better serve, is more athletic and better pusher of the two
Hingis anticipates and redirects ball better, has better hands and net skills.

Actually a player who resembles swiss mistress the most is Chakvetadze at her counterpunching and redirecting best

amazing match - quality like this is rare these days!
Serena was a much better athlete in 2001-2003 than today.....

Aga would be the harmless scarlet king snake that mimicks the coral snake. :sobbing:

Neither I get why people say that Venus' smash is good

They are vastly different players, the only somewhat similarity is that they both "try" to be aggressive, but often find it difficult because they are not physically strong enough.

But I don't believe Hingis could have ever gotten to #2 in the world in 2012. She can't sustain long rallies as well as Radwanska, which for their gamestyles, is needed on these slower courts.

Thank God! I don't know but there are even videos in youtube calling her the queen of smash

well she gets to hit more smashes than other players because of her agressive style.. in this match the majority of her winners were smashes (hence the title).. but her smash is definetly not reliable

I like Aga's forehand better overall for it's flatness. Hingis almost always hit Wozniacki-like forehands.

Hingis like all players of her generation would have to play much better to bave a chance against contemporary top players It's normal. Even Fischer(chess-player) with his 2715 ELO ranking would be outside of todays top 20 list. I personally adore Pierce but it's obvious her fate today would be the same as Hingis'.(even more so becayse she probably needeed something stronger than cocaine
to be so fit).
Comparing Aga to her contemporaries she's bo doubt someone as Hingis at her epoch That's the truth, you like it or not

Serve for sure.

And I would say FH also. Aga has a flatter FH and can hit some nice inside out.

Please. In 10 years youīll see the same 10-20 minute highlights from some matches of the 2012 US Open and then people will say oh you donīt see matches like Sharapova/Bartoli, Bartoli/Kvitova, Stosur/Azarenka, Clijsters/Robson, Venus/Kerber, Sharapova/Azarenka and Serena/Azarenka anymore. Thatīs the point of highlights. They cut out all the shit that happened in between all the good rallies and great winners.

It's nothing to do with glorification of the past, everyone and their mom knows the WTA has seen much better days than the past 5 years or so.

If Hingis would be in this generation she would win far more easily then in the past where there were so many better players in the game.
Today only couple of great players.
Also Hingis would have to be so much more phisicaly prepared and it would come naturaly with demands of today's game.
There is nothing similar in games of Radwanska and Hingis.
People only compare them because they both weren't powerfull.

It didn't come "naturally" to her in 2006-2007. :spit:
