This is something for 'old' Sanex-board members:

I was checking some old disks and I have found files from that board which I had stored. Among them were a few pages of the classic 'Is Lindsay Davenport Gay?' thread. :D

If there is interest I would like to share them with you, but I have no idea how I could post them here. Is there a way to do it ?

Well, the content of 'ILDG?' wasn't really tennis-related. ;)

I don't want to offend anyone in here, but I was just wondering whether Davenport is gay, I've just heard rumours about her and wondered if anyone had any knowledge on the subject.

ARG!!! What is it with people and speculating "is so and so gay?"
WHO CARES if she is gay...does it make a difference to how she plays tennis??? NO... so just let her be her...if she wants to come out, then leave it up to her to come out.

and just for the record NO I don`t think she is...but IF she is...good luck to her!

I doubted! Didn't she commented on Mauresmo last year? (from what I've read). Didn't she later apologize. I don't think she's a lesbian but if she is, she can't change that.

Gallofa, how to explain... my hair is straight and cut very short and I don't curl it at all, so it looks like a man's haircut. Lindsay has nice thick hair and keeps it short, I would guess because it's easy to take care of, and I think her hair looks great, anyway she has some curl to her hair, which makes me jealous. But a lot of uninformed people think a short cut like this is "butch" , so Lindsay must be gay. I saw a photo of her in a black mini with high heels and she looked terrific in definitely non-sensible shoes.
I didn't know there were height estictions on being a lesbian... are there size restrictions on gay males?

I think that many of the WNBA players are gay. They are very tall. Anyway, I don't know if Lindsay D. is gay or not. I have questioned about her from time to time from little things I have seen. However, I kept it to myself. I think that if she is then she may be the only one on earth who knows. Maybe she is, maybe she isn't.

She has expressed a desire to get married and have a family, plus I believe she takes Christianity seriously. Although not conclusive, these two things indicate that she is not gay.

Oh, darn. Well, my hair isstraight, as opposed to curly, but it's cut very short, so it's gay. Actually it's not very gay, it hates being uncurly, and it punishes me every chance it can get.

I heard from someone who knew someone who had a friend who lives near her in Southern California, and she saw Lindsay once on the street, and she was alone. The answer is obvious!

This is a funny question 'cause it's not like we're actually gonna know the answer to it.
Is Lindsay gay?
Lindsay has always maintained that she's a happy girl, happy with her game and happy with her life the way it is.

Has Lindsay ever kissed another woman?
I'm sure her mom used to kiss her goodnight when she was little.

Gallofa

thanks, tia clara... although this is a confusing concept...
Ok, so, we have deduced the following things so far :
1. No gay woman can be taller than 6 feet (unless she plays basketball, that is an exception to the rule)-- and if she's taller than that, she better walk hunch-back style.
2. Any woman commenting on Mauresmo is probably not gay (unless, of course, the comment is along the lines of: "gosh, she's hot!")
3. Gay hair is straight.
4. Only happy looking woman can be gay.
5. Somehow, being gay has something to do with wearing sensible shoes (or the other way around, who knows )
6. Butch and goffy don't mix well.
7. I you are serious you are probably not gay (if you are a serious christian... well, I won't get into religion).
8. If someone walks through Southern California ALONE, you just know whether they are gay or not.
9. Mothers kissing daughters when they were little is an unconclusive prove of sexual orientation.

SO, the answer should be obvious!!

Women Pro volley-ball players are very tall also, can they be gay? and they play their sport wearing very brief bikinis, showing off their bodies to all and sundry, what does this mean?
if i had a body like Gabrielle's, i'd show it off, too

tia clara

Gabrielle is a pro-volleyball player and was on TV here a lot during the Olympics. Networks LOVE sports where the players are tall, pretty females wearing very small bikinis. Oops, did I mention that this is beach volley-ball? ESPN shows a lot of their competions also, I think it's something to do with managerial testosterone. I don't think the managers at ESPN are gay, but I don't know about the volley-ball players...they hug each other a lot after good shots and wins and all that stuff. Is there a ruling on this? There is NO fanny-patting in beach volley-ball.

Gallofa

oh! ok! Another idea then:
10. Male/Male and Female/Female ass-patting and hugging is a dead giveaway

Gallofa, are TV network managers in Spain muy macho? because some of the ladies who play beach volley-ball are incredible. The whole Brazilizn team looked like Miss World winners. Watching it is fun, it's a very fast sport, but I was either very jealous or having a BIG problem with gender identity.

Gallofa
Member posted 02-10-2000 11:31 AM

I'd say they have latent homosexual tendencies, because they only show men -- no scantly clad woman -- We get a lot of motorcycles (after all, we have two world champions), cars (there's always Carlos Sainz *almost* winning... poor man), football (a LOT of football), basketball, cycling, volley-ball (now that one of the princess married a volley-ball player ), and, tennis ... but never women -- only Arantxa and Conchita in tennis.
Now, I remember about the beach volley-ball in the 96 Olympics... I remember cause the commentators were soooo amused that such a sport was an Olympic sport, and kept saying not much of a sport, BUT, look at the girls people!

tia clara

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
But, Jelena4Me, why do we need to know?
Fanny-patting is a series of pats on the tush, bum, bottom, derriere, gluteus maximus, rear; very popular amongst American football players( not sure about Canadian football players) and always between men...men who try to fanny-pat women are liable to get an elbow jammed into a sensitive area. At least that was my reaction whenever it was tried on me. Women tend to stick to high-fives or hugs, neither of which indicates sexual preferences, whether they are short or tall.

Chris COULD have been. She always seemed PRETTY friendly with Martina Navratilova, given she was suppodedly the little straight and sheltered girl from Fort Lauderdale.
But the question of Lindsay's nailpolish (or lack thereof), is really key to this issue. Plus, Chris always wore a deep shade of pink. If Lindsay wears a darker color, or clear, I think we have our answer!! Everyone ignores the OBVIOUS signs here.

Yeah, I read she has not one, but TWO, pet rottwiellers (sp?). I just can't think of any straight girls who would have dogs like that, can you? I mean, if she had a poodle, a pequanese, or something, I'd finger her for being totally straight, but those rottwiellers are a dead give-away.
If Lindsay is trying to stay in the closet, the hair, nails, and dogs are just giving her away and she needs to get a clue!!

tia clara

But, you know, Lindsay doesn't wear shorts to play in, she wears a skirt. That has to be a clear indication of something, I mean, Martina Navratilova wore shorts, although I don't think she wore boxers under them. Or Y-fronts, either. Have to go search through my old Tennis magazines to look for a picture of Lindsay and check on the nail polish color.

Darn, I went through five years worth of tennis magazines, and not one close-up of Lindsays fingernails. It looked like Mary Pierce was the only lip-stick wearer, no clue there. And those couldn't have been Rottweilers that the friend of someone's friend saw Lindsay walking, because she lives in Newport Beach, California, a very exclusive place, but crowded, and they only allow dogs no larger than toy poodles, and the dogs have to speak two languages, at least.

Now, about those blue toe-nails, we'll have to consult an expert on the meaning of that. I used to paint my toe-nails gold, but that was in a wilder time. Was it a dark blue or a baby blue? Very different moods are indicated by the color. Her toe-nails???

Actually, Gallofa, the cutoof height is 6 foot 0.4 inches, not 6 foot as you inaccurately posted. There have been a few lesbians just a sliver over 6 feet tall. Three American pro beach volleyball players and one stenographer from Milan are the best known examples.
As for whether there is a height cutoff for men, the answer is no. There is a weight cutoff however. No gay man has ever weighed more than 273 pounds (124kg). I have no idea why.

As for the "tallness" requirement proving Venus and Serena are not gay, yes is it proof positive for Venus. Serena, who is only about 5'10", we are still uncertain about. Guess we'll have to see if she wears nail polish.

As to whether or not Lindsay is gay, I guess it doesn't really matter unless we do something about it. Therefore, I have to ask some of our gay women here:

Would you do Lindsay?

A few of you have referred to Lindsay's comments about Mauresmo. Personally I don't think that Lindsay was being insultingn to Mauresmo. I can't remember the exact qoute, but it was along the lines of this "the shoulders were just huge". Now that tells me that Lindsay was checking Mauresmo out! I'd say she had/or has the hots for her and that would explain her mental block against her!

Ok, until we figure out the nail polish dilemma, we will never know. Toenail polish doesn't count.

After much thought, I've come to the conclusion that Pete Sampras and Lindsay Ddavenport are twins who were separated at birth, and have never been told that they are closely related. Clues were that both were originally from Palos Verdes, California; both are tall, both started tennis at a very early age, both were obviously fostered because their "parents" don't run their careers; real parents would be there claiming credit for everything and spending the money as fast as they could. Anyway, this proves that Lindsay is NOT gay, because there are no gay twins.
are there?

ja cs brings up an interesting issue that hasn't been yet discussed! What is indeed the circunference of the moon? And how does that figure relate to Lindsay being gay or not? I'd say we should investigate further. Because, something tells me that if we add that figure to the number state of where Lindsay lives, divides it by the year Lindsay was born, multiply it by the number of colors Margaret Astor has for nail polish, and if that number, when divided by 6' 0'4 is a natural number, we may have an answer!!!

Do you think we can deduce who will be the next president of the United States, if we compile your computation with the numbers of missed return Serena has produced during her final minus her black nail polish multiplied by her tears, well I'd say Oracene Williams is the next New York mayor

No, no, Oracene for President because anyone who can raise five daughters deserves to be President. Now, back to the main topic, the moon's cicumference has no effect on whether people are gay or not. It's the tide pull, and if we can find out whether it was high or low tide when Lindsay (and Pete) were born, all questions will be answered. Does anyone have an Almanac for 1976?

There's going to be a fund-raiser for the humor(humour)-impaired soon

With GOSTEFFIGO? Half of that Bill Gates money you were spending. But I'll pay for the olive oil. It has to be Greek olive oil, if I can't find any, the whole deal is off. Was your tide chart for France or Califor nia? a.m. or p.m. tide? These things matter!!

I thought Lindsay was lesbian for a longtime because she can be quite butch, especially when she was fat. I've changed my mind though. When she won in Australia, she did a little feminine skip-to-my-loo on the way to the net. Also getting rid of that hat and wearing her hair more fem helped too. Lindsay isn't lesbian, she just stayed in that tomboy stage much longer than most gals.

I have the answer (to Lindsay's orientation) which is that she is a Gemini( June 6) and therefore is both straight and gay, and so is her twin, Pete! Why does this sound like most of the rest of us?

All of you are forgetting about the nail polish. While the moon and tide statistics will also provide you with the answer (and to a lesser extent her height, hair style, and number of dogs and breeds will do the same), it's much easier to simply resolve whether: (a) she wears nail polish; and if so, (b) what is the color? I'm telling you, it's a statistically PROVEN fact about the nail polish. Maybe we could call Lindsay's publicist? Does she do any endorsement for L'Oreal, Revlon, Max Factor, etc.?

Okay, BonnieLisa, we need a chart to work from:
Clear nail polish = _______?

Pale pink nail polish = ________?

Bright red nail polish = ___________?

Deep purple nail polish = ___________?

Bright blue nail polish = ____________?

Chrome yellow nail polish = __________?

Black nail polish = ____________?

This is not a test but we need some input for this deeply signifigant chart.

The only person who needs to worry whether or not Andre is gay is Steffi, so don't get sidetracked on that subject.

Ok, Tia Clara, and those who MUST know what goes on inside Lindsay's head. Here's what the scientists have deduced from the nail polish test:
(1) Clear--Linsday is gay, unless it's during a night match, then, she's not gay, just fashionable.
(2) Pale Pink--Lindsay is as straight as Chris Evert. It's a 100% test, day or night. She doesn't even peek in the WTA showers.
(3) Bright Red--Lindsay is not only straight, but she's turning tricks during her down times at the tournament to supplement her income.
(4) Deep Purple--Lindsay herself is unsure about her sexuality.
(5) Bright Blue--Lindsay is straight, unless it's a professional manicure, then, she's gay.
(6) Chrome Yellow--Lindsay is straight, but open to experimentation, but has yet to partake in sapphic pleasures. It's a very narrow window of opportunity, but does exist nonetheless.
(7) Black--Lindsay goes both ways, depending on the moment.

You see, it's all quite simple when it's narrowed down. Now, if we can only find a picture that will tell us what we need to know!!

Oh, one last part of the test. We go with the nail polish in the first picture where we can make it out. Thus, if the first one is clear nail polish, and it's during a day match, she's gay, period. It doesn't matter if we later find 100 other pictures with her wearing pink nail polish. That's part of the test.
I'm totally on edge with the suspense, worse than I was during the AO final. When will someone finally end the suspense???

I'm sure this has been stated before, but I don't feel like scrolling back through all 110+ responses to found out. What if she doesn't wear nail polish period? What if it's just not her thing? Also, if someone were to find a pic of her where her nails are visible, how do you determine if they are painted with clear polish or not at all.

bonnielisa

No nail polish means, having been spurned on by the Rene Richards hysteria, she was a man and decided to have a sex change SOLELY for the purpose of being able to dominate the WTA and make it big when normally she'd be only an average player on the ATP tour. All those fears of this exactly happening in the late 70's have now come to fruition if she wears NO polish!! Twenty years later! Of course, if this is true, she must have had second thoughts in the early 90's about having done it, when, after having undergone the procedure, she was not exactly dominating!! LOL!!
When we see the picture, we will be able to tell whether it's no polish or clear, don't worry.

Okay, Ayla, I used to know one of the astronauts, Gene Cernan, who walked on the moon, so maybe he can tell me if the moon actually has a circumference (Sartre could be right and nothing really exists anyway) and if he saw any indications that its girth (tired of writing c----) influnced Serena or Lindsay(or Pete)
I thought you were blonde? Use the chrome yellow nail polish with little pictures of Chanda on each nail.

No, no, I have red hair, well, depends on the season. In Autumn, it's more orange, I might try green for Spring, and I usually turn blonde in Summer....
BTW, I could give you a hand for this circumfere thing, for I was born when Armstrong stepped on the moon, so I know ! I was there ! And I'm sure it has influenbced my sexuality (as well as my choice of colour to dye my hair....)

Well, Ayla, if you are questioning Serena, then the nail polish test would certainly apply, but it's less reliable when it's used in connection with using it on another player at the same time. For example, since we first tried to apply it to Lindsay, the vibes we're getting from Lindsay's nail polish will interfere with the results from Serena and mess up our conclusion for Serena. Thus, Serena's black nail polish just doesn't tell us the whole story. Your answer lies in the moon information I'm afraid because we haven't tainted that source yet with Lindsay vibes.
Of course, if someone can find a picture of Lindsay's nails once and for all, we will have our definitive answer, can end the thread, and begin another one!! LOL!!

Disposablehero, the nail polish statistics I posted are Lindsay-specific, so we can't say for certain that Serena goes both ways. There's simply not enough speculation about Serena's sexuality (yet) to apply the nail polish test to her. As stated above, the moon test is a better test for Serena.
I'm sure many players peek, but I can't imagine that Christine Marie Evert herself EVER peeked. Pale pink nail polish in tennis is rare. Chrissy may have been the only non-peeker on the WTA tour, ever!!

Ok, the first picture we found, thanks Tia Clara, is that Lindsay wears no nail polish. This, of course, means she used to be a man who had a sex change SOLELY to dominate the WTA tour.

Almost positive, because if she was wearing clear polish, the light would have reflected and there was no reflection, no shine at all. On the other hand, she was gripping the racquet with both hands in a really tight hold, and her fingers were white too. So there could still be doubt, a little.

The nail polish test doesn't work for guys. Pete Sampras could show up for a Wimbledon final with Flo-Jo nails (poor woman), and he'd still be straight as a board.
Now that Lindsay's sexuality has been resolved (does she know we've figured her out? LOL!), we really do need another test for Serena because sufficient questions have been raised. The nail polish test can't be used for AT LEAST another six months. The moon test sounds pretty accurate. Any other tests out there? Shoe color? Jewelry? Sister's hair style? Last time she's seen Iva Majoli? There are many accurate, accurate tests out there, we just have to find the easiest one....

No, I'm glad bonnielisa raised the subject about Serena at last, and she's right, we ought to determine what will the right test to apply, I mean, it is very important as it doesn't work for anyone as said before, because of the vibes implied. Thanks to the nail polish test, we managed to figure out about Lindsay, hopefully Tough the influence of the ircumference of the moon was also proposed but I guess this would squt better the Williams family as to know whether Oracene Williams will be the next President...

Definitely, Oracene for President. She could appoint Richard secretary of Health, Education, and Welfare. Serena , though, mmmm, must think hard here. 1- she isn't too tall to be gay. 2 - her hair is long. See, now we have opposing facts, which makes it difficult. I have seen some beautiful photos of her modeling clothes, so glamorous, ... are any of the supermodels gay? But then they are all tall, no? And then there is the designing thing.... aren't all clothing designers gay ..... according to common gossip? And common it is too.
Serena, you have made us un-serene!

Ok, I've "researched" the accuracy and validity of all the remaining tests. This one seems like it's the best determination of Serena's sexuality. If Serena saw Iva Majoli in person during the calendar year 1999, then Serena is straight. If Serena did not see Iva Majoli in person during the calendar year 1999, then Serena is gay. Now, Serena was not part of the U.S. Fed Cup team when they played Croatia in NC in the Spring. That was Seles and Rubin. No luck there. Serena and Iva both played in Key Biscayne, and at the U.S. Open. They did not play each other. Iva got a bye at Key Biscayne and I think fell to Fabiola the second round. She fell to Capriati the first round at the U.S. Open. Did Serena actually SEE her IN PERSON during these two tournaments, or otherwise. That's the test, unless someone has a more accurate and reliable one in mind. We have to start researching.....

But then is there really a different test for each and every person to find out wether they are or they're not.....

Doris, do you watch Zena? Is Zena shown in Europe? I never thought I was a lesbian but I was a faithful Zena watcher and according to some authorities, only lesbians watch Zena.
Not that there is anything wrong with that.

Maybe we should use the Xena test for Serena. No one seems to be able to crack the "did she or didn't she" see Majoli last year test, so we're still in the dark about Serena's sexuality. The Xena test might be one of the few ones that has universal application.
I've only watched it once, when my 80-year old grandfather made me watch it a couple years ago. I didn't know the show existed before then. He's really into Xena. Now what does THAT mean????

I don't know if I agree about the Xena test... isn't that a series for kids? like Hercules? well, anyway, if you say it's accurate I trust you, after all, bonnielisa you came up with the nail-polish test which is 100% accurate, so... now, how can we learn whether she watches Xena or not? there must be some way to determine it!!

Maybe Serena is a lesbian in denial? Notice the subtile changes to be more feminine:
-The hair extensions
-The new "cleavage dress"
-The red pumps
-The weight loss.

About Agassi, the man shaves his torso!!! I think it's pretty clear! If we could only apply this to Serena...

But Agassi looks like an ape without shaving, so you really can't blame him. Maybe Steffi likes the overall clean shaven look!
But, back to the matter at hand, what's the deal with Serena? If we're going to "out" Lindsay as a post-op transsexual, we can't ignore all of the others in the Top 10, now can we?!?!?

Bonnielisa, you're going to Amelia Island; someone in the top ten should be in the finals. Maybe. Perhaps. Well, anyway, it's a good chance to do some up-close-and-personal (as they say on TV) detecting for us. If Serenna is going to play there. All of a sudden this plan seems to have some holes in it. Bribe a locker room attendant to tell you what goes on? Are locker room attendants bribable?
My mind is a tangled as my hair this morning.

Don't worry, Tia Clara, I'll figure something out. Seeing that I can't bring a cooler or a keg into the stadium, I will have plenty of free space on me to carry cash for bribes!! It sounds very casual. If I don't switch jobs, I will take Thursday and Friday off and get tickets and wonder around and see what I can investigate.
I'm sure if I see Serena in person, I will be able to tell immediately if she's gay or not, in denial or not, etc. It is well-settled that you can read people's emotions better when they're playing on clay! I'm starting to get worried about exactly whom I will be seeing at Amelia Island. It's the week after Ericcson, and with all these "top" players doing Scottsdale, then Indian Wells, then Ericcson, I'm starting to wonder if there will be a mass bail-out from this tournament. I hope not. But, I like just about everyone so I will be thrilled just to be there.

Anyone have a "test" for any Top 10 players?

Well, I didn't know about clay ....
The outfit matters of course, you say if she has an opened or not sexuality, first. Then the colours ! Very colourful and she's gay, that's a sign everybody knows. Trouble is, if she wears make-up, she is in denial....

And if the player listens to Barbra Streisand, she's gay ! We have to find out who they listen to...... I might try that in Roland-Garros (knowing now clay is playing a role)

We're having way too much fun with this topic!! Also, don't forget, if it's windy, Serena's skirt might fly up, and colorful underwear can tip us off too, sort of like the stories about Renee Stubb's colorful undewear during the ladies' doubles final at the AO last month. Pray for wind!

I just thought of YET another way to figure these things out (despite our numerous, valid tests, LOL)!! We need to start a weekly "Ask Heidi" thread. From what I understand, she actually answers a lot of the e-mails from Steffi's webpage and is fairly candid. After what, 17, 18 years of following Steffi on the tour, I'm sure Heidi knows who's straight and who's gay, and Steffi probably knows too, and disclosed it all to her mom.
At the end of each week, we can copy the thread with all our pertinent questions into an e-mail, send it to Heidi, and voila, she tells all, we have our answers!! I'm sure Heidi will have no problem taking some time out of her life to "out" various players on the tour for us. She might even be able to resolve the shower dilemma for us also, who peeks, peekers, peekees, did Gaby shower in a bathing suit, etc. Steffi and Heidi know all, and I'm sure they'd be willing to tell all, too.
So, everyone, what do you think?!?!?

but why ask only her? We should also ask Marisa Vicario AND Arantxa's dogs (doggies are very intelligent, they just notice this kind of things!!) -- and while we are at it, maybe we should also ask Alexandra Stevenson's mom (who seems to know a lot about this issue )
Did we determine a way to know about Serena? I supposse you are considering that we have full moon, right? AND, the wind is blowing from the WEST!! Which is a sign for sure!!

tia clara

Arantxa's dogs are the answer, they can bounce around the locker room and sniff out all the news; Gallofa will have to go to RG to translate, because the dogs only speak Spanish!
and maybe a little Catalan?

The underpants clue could be signifigant. Several seasons ago I saw a doubles player who was wearing polka-dotted panties - blue with white polka dots. I didn't think anything of it at the time, but that was before I met all your discerninig minds and realized the deeper meanings behind superficial incidents. Now if I could only remember who that was.....
Are doubles players more likely to be gay, or just happy to be making a living?

We still need to forumulate a test for Serena as well. We can't wait until Amelia Island (at least I can't wait), and we're not even sure she will play there. Hmmmmmm.
Heidi is the Internet maven, so I just figured she's more accessible than Arantxa's mom. Of course, we could ALWAYS ask Samantha Stevenson: she's full of ideas on the topic, and not afraid to share them!!!

I haven't heard the one about Lindsay and NZ! Does Natasha know that Lindsay used to be a man, at least if our prior conclusions are correct (which they are, the nail polish test is 100% accurate).

Tia Clara, BonnieLisa, Tim, Griffin, Disposable, Gallofa... you should be in the Poster's Hall of Fame because of your posts here!!

My question is this... if the blue dress points toward Lindsay being gay, what does that say about Monica Lewinsky? Is she gay? Oh my God!! Is President Clinton a woman? And a Lesbian? Well, that certainly explains Janet Reno, Donna Shalala and Ruth Bader Ginsberg!!!

My apologies to non-American posters. I bet you don't know who most of the people I mentioned are! Just disregard.

No, Monica Lewinsky ( I gag to say the name) has the wrong color nail polish. I haven't done research on the others, but I suspect they could be cross-dressers. Linda Tripp, however, is a whole different story, I think she is still cleaning up after a sex-change operation. A brain change would have been better, IMO

Yeah that's actually true.. Lindsay and Natasha were roommates back in 1996/7 (long before the became doubles partners). They shared a condo in Newport Beach together.
I think Lindsay moved in right after her parents got divorced. I think it must have been hard for her to live either with her mom or her dad coz it would be like taking sides (lots of kids with divorced parents have that problem).

Anyway, 2 girls living together doesn't mean there's a relationship going on.. Natasha was engaged to fellow pro Scott Davis at the time.. obviously that never worked out

Also, I think it's really nice coz it shows that top players can be best of friends too.

Lindsey, thanks for clearing up the Natasaha/Lindsay "scandal."
Come to think of it, what are the straight/gay dynamics of having roomates? Certainly, there's the economic elements or the student elements. But, Lindsay and Natasha can quite obviously afford to have their own pads, and they were not in school. What does this mean? What other WTA players have had roommates?

1. Listen to Tia Clara.
2. Even if this is about Lindsay, there is nothing wrong with being gay/lesbian, so take your hangups to the pub, buy them a drink or two and give them a good talking to.
3. Lindsay has made it clear often enough that she doesn't really care what people think (with the exception, presumably, of the people that truly matter in her life, ie family/close friends/coach/significant others, if any, of indeterminate gender etc). So why should it bother you? Again, refer to point 2.

Back to underpants - in the early days, Lindsay used to wear floral undies under a fairly dull outfit. Does this indicate a certain level of disguise, hiding her true nature? There were some tall women in the Sydney mardi gras - perhaps one of them was her? She could easily have flown here and back before the Scottsdale final.

There was a discussion on the angelfire-site someone saying that Lindz doesn`t come out because of her Nike-contract...well they said Mauresmo so also endorsed by Nike, but I think there is a difference between both. Lindz is their top female product endorser, Mauresmo not.
Personally I don`t think this is the reason why. If I were Lindsay I wouldn`t come out, too. I think she will never make it public (if she actually is gay at all).

Aw thanks Brit, you're making me blush .
I don't think she'd come out because she's American. The US, particularly her home state of California, isn't exactly accepting of gays/lesbians. I think there'd be a huge backlash against her, and she'd find herself in the position of having to do LOTS of interviews about herself. People like Oprah would want the "she's just a girl next door type who happens to be a lesbian" angle, which would be a good thing for gays/lesbians generally, but Lindsay probably would not want that attention.

Keir,
There's nothing about California that is particularily more anti-gay than the rest of the USA. In fact, a lot of California is much more accepting of gays than Alabama, Mississippi, and other southern states. Sure Prop. 22 passed there, but simliar measures have passed in 30 out of 50 states. The majority of Americans just do not want gay marriage right now.

But I do agree that even if Lindsay is gay (and I don't think she is), she's so media shy anyways that she would probably never come out to the world at large. And, I think that would be the best choice given her personality. What happens if the media tries to out her, I don't know.

I've got it!!! and it's way more simple than the underwears of Davey (damn! another mental picture). If Davey is gay, she's gonna move out of California soon and go to a more "understanding" state.

Hmmm. Like Wisconsin, you mean?
There are many worse states than California for the homosexually-gifted. (I was just discussing Louisiana with Ayla on another thread - shudder!!)

Maybe she could move to another locale in California though - one with a sizable gay population. San Francisco is the obvious choice. San Diego would be good. I don't see her as an L.A. kind of woman.

Yes, I do agree. Don`t you agree that there`s a difference between Lindsay and Amelie? Lindsay is much bigger in tennis-success. Don`t you think?
ZIP and KEIR do you think she is? I don`t know. I just saw her playing against Julie. Perfect win!!!!!!!
She`s letting her hair grow. Looks good. Looks not gay...
I`d like to know. She`s so full of secrets and so many different faces. Most of the timee so female and sometimes a little bit butch. We will never know....

Yeah, and Julie has a short crop, but is married to a guy. Hair is not a good indicator at all. Rank amateurs rely on hair length!! LOL!!
While on the topic of hair, length is no good, but what about roots? Amelie always looks like she needs a touch-up bad, and Lindsay had some major black/dark brown roots during that Wimbeldon final. I never remember Steffi having roots (that hair cannot be 100% natural blond). I don't remember Martina N. having a root problem, though, and I know that was a bottle-job. Can anyone sort out the roots thing?

Brit, I agree, Lindsay is much better and has a much higher profile. She therefore has a bigger reputation and lots more to lose by coming out.
Personally I think Amelie was just well and truly "in love" and wanted to share it with everybody, and was a little naive about how some would react. When you're that age and in love, regardless of sexuality, you just want to shout it to the world. In a way Hingis did her a favour by making those comments, because it made people more supportive.

However, I think if Lindsay is a lesbian, sponsorship contracts would be the absolute LAST thing on her mind if she was going to come out. You can't come out in a strong Catholic family without suffering. Plus, I know California ain't that bad compared to the whole of the US, but that's the point: the US really is a very conservative, frightening country with regard to how the law and society see homosexuality. Christianity is such a strong part of your culture, unless someone is rather exceptional (ie famous, honest, down-to-earth and likeable) they're not going to have an easy time, and even if they do, it will only be occasionally. Also, as others have said, it would mean loads of attention that Lindsay just would not want.

I want to see this hair, then . btw, if I had a dollar for every time someone said some woman couldn't be a d-y-k-e because she's feminine, has long hair, wears dresses, isn't butch, etc, I wouldn't be at work right now slacking off and playing on the internet

Keir, you make a lot of good points. Lindsay would have a ton to lose if she was gay and told the world. Puritan-strain Americans are just too uptight. I understand that Europeans are more accepting of this (just a rumor). In fact, a close friend in college was gay, and she ended up moving to Europe years after graduation and apparently is out and loves it and claims she simply couldn't get that in the U.S., not even in California. It's kind of sad you have to leave your native country to find happiness, but I guess she wasn't the first, nor will be the last.
But back to the roots.....

Lindsay's hair was sexy enough short. It looks so thick and luxurious.... (down boy!).
What's this about roots, then? Whose roots? Someone (Josh, I think) said Amelie dyes her hair and it's not naturally blonde. I don't know if I want to know the truth about that!

I'm running through the Top 15 or so here in my head. Barbara Schett doesn't seem to have a root problem, and I doubt her hair is 100% natural. Anke seems to keep her color even as well. Does Tauziat have highlights? Kournikova has no roots, but maybe she's naturally that blond. Amanda Coetzer doesn't seem to have a root problem.
Basically, it's Linday and Amelie who really need to be vigilant about visiting the salon on a regular basis.

MartinaIluv pointed out something in another post that was important too. Basically why Lindsay cannot or struggles to beat Mauresmo. Cos Mauresmo's loud, out and proud and Lindsay's not. Plus anyone remember Lindsay's comments on Mauresmo's appearance - she made comments along the lines of "the shoulders were huge". Sounds to me like Lindsay was checking Mauresmo out!

A lot of players have problems with Amelie, not just Lindsay! LOL! Interesting dynamic. Let's see, we have had speculation that Hingis has something for Lindsay, and that Lindsay may have something for Amelie. Well, if that's true, Amelie should be No.1 soon! If she can just make it through earlier rounds and avoid Serena.....

So, Babsi's hair is natural. I can't tell from the limited times I've seen her on TV. Miguel, mate, here's the news:
Again, refer to point 2.
cheers,

GEORDIE RACER

"WHO'S YOUR DADDY?"

The Highlights of Wimbledon 2000

The first Wimbledon Lawn Tennis Championships of the new Millennium are almost upon us and we are sure to see some 'Sexy Tennis.' But for those that can't wait, I nipped into my little time machine and had a quick peek at some of the highlights. (And similarities to Wimbledon 99 are purely coincidental)

Warning: SOME OF THESE HIGHLIGHTS MAY CONTAIN AMELIE MAURESMO.

First Round
Martina Hingis (2) 6 2 7
Rita Kuti Kis 4 6 9
Martina Hingis faced everybodys’ favourite nobody in the first round. However all the media interest before the game was centred around the fact that Melanie Molitar was nowhere to be seen in the crowd. In her space was a large, inflatable racoon.
The game went as normal until a controversial last set. With Kuti Kis 8-7 up and serving for the match at 40-15. A Hingis forehand down the line became caught up in a freak air pocket caused by the movement of Patty Synder’s hair. The ball swerved uncontrollably out of the court leaving a furious Hingis facing the fact that she had been knocked out, by a nobody, in the first round, two years in a row. However, Hingis did herself no favours with the press or public when she was booed from the court for breaking down into tears and demanding, live on TV in front of 20 million viewers, that Patty Synder be immediately shaved bald on the centre court. She was later removed from the court after she attacked Ms. Synder with a pair of scissors and an oxy-celtelene welding torch. Ms. Synder was said to be ‘Confused and slightly singed.’

Amelie Mauresmo 5 (walkover)
Anna Kournikova (10) 3

To the general disappointment of the British crowds and press, Anna Kournikova was the second big casualty in the first round.
Before the game had even began, Kournikova had appeared in the British press after a night in which she “Drank 8 pints of Martini and then bedded Alan Shearer,” the Sun reported. The Daily Mail claimed she “performed lewd sexual acts” with the England Soccer captain before “leashing herself, naked, to Pete Sampras and continually referring to him as ‘your majesty.’ ” Kournikova denied she had ever lost her virginity and continued to comb her hair.
Amelie Mauresmo had also caused the rumour mills to turn in the British Press, until it turned out to be true that she had downed sixteen pints of lager and then attempted to pull Alexandra Stevenson (see later) at which point everybody just became scared. She had also become famous in one local Wimbledon pub for repeatedly starting fights and comprehensively decking all of the bouncers.
The game took a decidedly nasty turn though, after Kournikova decided to break all Wimbledon rules and play wearing a Detroit Redwings top and no pants. When Mauresmo complained after the eighth game, Kournikova referred to the young French woman as (something which roughly translates to) “so ugly she could strip paint with her arse.” At which point, whilst Kournikova was smiling at the cameras, Mauresmo did what she described later as “A Tombstone” on Kournikova and broke her neck. Kournikova retired hurt.

Second Round
Alexandra Stevenson 4 7 6
Amanda Coetzer (8) 6 5 3

The return to Wimbledon of Samantha Stevenson was not something which filled many hearts with endless joy. When her first act at this year’s Wimbledon was to attack Amelie Mauresmo in the press, for hitting on her daughter (this had already nearly won her a damn good kicking from the overly testosteroned french girl in the process) she lost a lot more friends. And her declaration that “Amanda Coetzer is a ex-ku-klux-klan, white supremacist who once raped my daughter with a pineapple,” won her few new ones.
But the real controversy which surrounded this match was Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson arguing over which one of them was Stevenson’s natural father. In a press conference before the match Jordon said: “Yes, I am her father but only because I had the correct change.” Samantha Stevenson is said to be “talking to” her lawyers.
The game itself was a dull affair with Stevenson winning more comfortably than the result suggests as Coetzer was obviously over come by the tension surrounding the match. The fact that Samantha Stevenson stood on the sidelines with a mallet, may also not have helped the South African’s concentration.

Jelena Dokic 0 6 6
Amelie Mauresmo 6 0 0

The start of this game was delayed for two hours after Dokic’s father stole 14 cameras from the BBC crew and refused to give them back, claiming he was portrayed badly on the TV show ‘The Royle Family.’
Even after the cameras had been replaced and Damir Dokic securely impounded on a show court with Martina Navratilova, the game was delayed by yet more controversy surrounding Mauresmo.
After a first set in which she struck Dokic three times in the head, with two devastatingly powerful fore-hands and a right hook, Mauresmo took a commanding advantage. That was until Jelena’s father broke free of his compound (using Martina Navratilova’s nose hair to pick the lock) and challenged Mauresmo to a fight in the middle of the court. Mauresmo accepted and gave Damir quite a run for his money. Until the big man began to fight dirty. After much blood was spilt and much underarm hair removed, Damir Dokic was declared the winner by TKO. Amelie struggled on for the last two sets, but never troubled Dokic after that.

Third Round

Mary Pierce (6) 0 0 0
Patty Synder 6 6 6

Mary Pierce had spent the earlier rounds of the tournament being harassed by the press about her drug taking habits and when the truth broke about her taking Viagra to see if she could stay in longer, Mary’s game went to pieces.
Having survived the earlier scare of being attacked and nearly balded by Martina Hingis, Patty Synder seemed pretty up for this game.
Unfortunately her energy was never required as the game was over as a contest when, in the second game, the ENTIRE crowd ran from the court screaming as Mary Pierce’s eight inch **** came out the bottom of her skirt.
After she had finished throwing up, Patty Synder finished off a humiliated Pierce, who announced her retirement (and the fact that she had been admitted to a drugs clinic for her $400 a night cocaine habit which was paid for by selling guns to blind kids) shortly after the game

Alexandra Stevenson 4 6 0
Steffi Graf 6 3 6

The claim by Joe Montana that he is Alexandra Stevenson’s father did not help her concentration leading up to this match. It also probably didn’t help that her mother said that she “didn’t know about Joe Montana, but she had thought the father had been Ken Griffey Jnr all along” Alexandra was said to be confused, but pleased that her autograph collection just keeps getting bigger.
Steffi Graf’s return to Wimbledon after her retirement seemed like a relatively small event compared to the other controversy surrounding the tournament up till now. However, determined to be noticed, she paid someone to shout “Steffi, will you marry me?!!” from the crowd. Unfortunately her answer “How big is your **** ??!!” didn’t get the response she had expected. Steffi was fined $500.28.

In the game, Graf took the first set with relative ease with Stevenson obviously disturbed by the fact that Joe Montana was removed from the stands after the eighth game for repeatedly shouting “Who’s your daddy??!!” between points and services. When the crowd took up the same chant after the second set, the game was as good as over for Stevenson as she completely lost her concentration and her nice girl image. When she ran into the stands and grabbed an innocent bystander by the neck and held him in a “Sleeper” hold until he admitted to never touching her mother.

Fourth Round
Conchita Martinez (14) 5 5
Venus Williams (5) 7 7

The highlight of the fourth round was this game which broke the Wimbledon record for longest game. Despite only lasting two sets, Conchita Martinez managed to make the game last for 6 days, excluding the 2 days that were rained off.
Prior to the game, Conchita had been accused, by Samantha Stevenson, of walking into her house bare-arsed naked and dancing naked on the tables. Richard Williams said he had also seen this and was immediately accused of being Alexandra Stevenson’s father, at which point Bo Jackson kicked the crap out of him.
Air traffic control from Heathrow airport was also disrupted during this week-long game, as Conchita proceeded to hit every ball that came her way at least ninety metres into the air. Venus was confused on more than one occasion by the dead birds which kept dropping out of the sky as Martinez killed them with her high shots.
Venus eventually triumphed however, much to the delight of Williams who, when asked what he thought of the game, called Martina Hingis: “A satanic little flusie.” No explanation was given. He was also pleased at the setting up of the Serena - Venus Quarter Final, which he said “Would finally prove his daughters could beat Pete Sampras.” Again, no explanation was given.

Quarter Finals
Venus Williams (5) 7 5 7
Serena Williams (9) 5 7 5

It was the quarter final that Richard Williams had dreamed of and the game couldn’t have been much tighter. Neither could the girls’ dresses.
With both pairs of breasts popping out on a regular basis during the game, the English Paparazzi had a field day. As did the watching Ameilie Mauresmo.
The game only broke into a sister-sister fight on one occasion when Serena walked to the other side of the court to confront her sister who had started showing baby photos or Serena to the crowd. Richard Williams said they would both be sent to bed early and then called Martina Hingis a “dirty little ***** .” No reason was given.

Semi Finals
Once again in this tournament Jelena Dokic was forced to play against a butch player who hits the ball harder than Sammy Sosa. In the first set, Dokic lost four teeth to Davenport’s services. She was also obviously quite distracted when her father ran onto the court and started charging against the umpire’s chair. He astonished the watching crowd as he proceeded to ram himself into the base of the chair until the umpire fell out. At which point, Davenport went over and kicked the living daylights out of Damir. The umpire was said to be ‘bemused.’
The rest of the game was a tight affair, with Damir Dokic confined to the stands and Dokic quite blatantly angered by the way Davenport had kicked her father in the head. Dokic’s superior self motivation was the winner in the end and was in stark contrast to the way Davenport’s concentration wavered every time the man selling doughnuts walked past.
After the game, Dokic was fined $5000 after she turned up four days late to the press conference. Once at the conference she read a prepared statement claiming saying “Lyndsey Davenport is crap. She has always been crap and she will always be crap. No one can stop me now!!!” Dokic later denied saying any of it.

The Final
Jelena Dokic 6 7
Venus Williams (5) 4 5

Steffi Graf had found Wimbledon so easy this year that she had humiliated a qualifier in the first round by playing without a racquet, however, when she tried the same trick against Venus Williams in the semi-final, Venus broke Steffi’s nose in fourteen places.
Jelena Dokic said before the game that she would just ONCE, like to play somebody who wouldn’t try to maim her with their serves. But when Venus lashed a serve off Dokic’s face during the warm up, it brought back many painful memories of her father’s belt.
Dokic didn’t seem to have gotten the hang of Venus’ serve at the start of the game either. She lost the first 4 games and in the process, deflected two of Venus’ serves into the crowd at such a velocity that the first one killed the Queen and the second one disabled Cliff Richard. Despite the latter event being considered a national tragedy, the game continued.
The turning point of the game, however, was in the fifth game. Venus complained to the umpire when Damir Dokic (closely guarded by four members of Her Majesty’s Secret Service) stood up and began to write a game plan for Dokic on the back of her mother. It was during his instruction shouting that Venus complained, however the umpire claimed she could not see any secret signals being passed. Dokic, angry at the complaints, began a fightback. She shouted at the winning of every point and was not even phased when Venus ran around the net and cracked her one in the face. A large majority of the crowd was scared enough to leave though.
After taking the first set and crushing Venus’s morale, Dokic went on to take her first Grand Slam crown.
Dokic became slightly angry after the game when she found out that the words “VENUS WILLIAMS” had already been inscribed on the trophy. She said “The draw was quite obviously rigged and everybody I played tried to kill me. But my father and I got through it in the end and I love him very much.” At which point her father beat her with a broken bottle and made her go to bed early for losing nine games in the final. Wimbledon came to a pleasing end when Jana Novotna began to cry and everybody left happy.

This highlight reel was produced by the "Lets Kick Amelie Mauresmo Out Of Wimbledon" campaign.

This highlight reel is made up. I do not own a time machine. Any connection to events which have happened or which happen sometime in the future, are purely coincidental. The aim of this article was not to cause offence to those included, but to provide a good old fashioned belly-laugh to those of you with a similar sense of humour. I apologise for any offence caused or any offence which will be caused when ALL of this stuff happens and I laugh loudly in your faces.

I thought it was funny! but where was Monica Seles? Did she realize what was going to happen, so she decided to skip Wimbeldon? and the press went into a furry, like they did in '91?

Some of this is funny, but a lot of it is unnecessary and absolutely disgusting. This should not be the kind of stuff that is posted on the web board.

Very funny, but would Amanda Coetzer be so unsettled? She'd probably wade into MIZ Stevenson and show her what a Springbok is made of.
As for poor Amelie, it's not her and Venus' fault that as a team they could play mixed doubles, my only ponderance is, who would wear the jock strap????

garros - "unnecessary"? Are you an editor? Do you think it's been padded out? I thought it read quite nicely, but then again, I write, which puts me on the other side of the fence...

I don't think this is funny at all. You need to mellow it a lot, before actually going so far as to insult all the greats of the game. It's also obvious who you favor on the tour.

Keir, as members of the Wta Tour Web Board, there are respnsibilities that we carry. We are here to converse about the play and the personal lives of the women of tennis. This story had nothing to do with either one. Talking about a players genitals is going absolutely too far. And about Amelie Mauresmo, if she wants to like women, that is her issue and her business and we, whether comfortable with it or not, should not be discriminatory or lampooning against her. And i do not think that we should be laughing at the fact that some European players get beat when they fail to perform well, like Dokic. ˙˙˙˙ is a serious matter and the things that Dokic endured in the story did not humor me at all. The story was a classless post and I hope never again to see something of its kind on the Web Board. Thank you. k-bye

GEE!!! LIGHTEN UP!!!!!!! Take it in the vain it was supposed to be taken - it was OBVIOUSLY not meant to be taken as seriously as you seem to have taken it....
My only beef with this story is that there is NO MONICA SELES!!!!!!!!!! Because she is going to be in the final, and she is going to kick Hingis's butt!!!!!

And I want to ask GEORDIE RAGER only one question : DO YOU LIKE TENNIS?

Well, there's good natured fun poking (who's not up for a good poke now and then? come on, really?) and then there's nasty, spiteful vitriol. This is clearly the former. I find 99% of the "commentary" posted by Silvercharm/Aristotle to be far more offensive than this. This is a JOKE.
Oh, and garros, I'm an Amelie fan, but I have a sense of humour.

:D

I remember this thread. LOL.

I remember starting a thread, probably just prior to this one, called "Has Martina Hingis Matured Any?" I started that thread right after seeing her play against Conchita Martinez in the final of the German Open in Berlin. I didn't like Hingis' attitude that day so I started the thread. It must of had over 200 replies. I remember being called names, etc. LOL. Those were the days. :)

Tia's comments were my favourite! :D
