Maria Sharapova:)

What do you guys think?

Grigorpova

Like Serena will lose to Ivanovic or Errani/Vinci. Will Maria even take a set off Azarenka if she even makes the semi-finals? :oh:

As much as I would LOVE her to win,I just don't get the feeling Maria can do the Vika/Serena double.

Ugh. Silliams is winning this even if you blindfold her and force her to play left-handed.

If Serena goes before the finals, Maria will take it, but I don't think that kind of thing will happen. I wish Ana would surprise Serena, but somehow it all depends on Serena. Maria can't defeat Serena in the finals, I'm so convinced. I guess Errani or Vinci are darkhorsing too much, I'm not surprised if one of them goes far, but I can't see any of them winning. Bartoli just no, Stosur can't take it all and Ana? I guess she will take it match by match, so who knows what happens. I almost forgot Azarenka, but she will flop to Serena in the final match, as well. And she won't defeat Pova. I think so. Well, hopefully, but I think so. :)

Even as a Maria fan, she will need LUCK and a lot of it to have a chance, Serena is in a rich vein of form. That said if Maria gets there, she needs to play how she did at the start of her career, go for broke, if she loses so be it, she will get flogged playing clay-style tennis so why not gamble a bit with shots, go for the lines.

this is the only way I see it playing out....

Maria 'Hey BFF Serena you hear I launched some new candy called sugarpova, I bet your just dieing to try a bit of me...'
Serena 'Since I bagelled and breadsticked you at olympics its the least I can do, hey maybe you can post on facebook that I give the thumbs up that you new candy is good'

Two mins later...

Serena is dead, Maria laced the sugarpova with arsenic and therefore she goes on to win the US Open 2012.

I'll actually be mega happy to see Ana, Marion, Serena or Vika take it. But surely it's all on Serena's racket. And I know no one deserves it unless they actually win it, but I do feel that Serena's talent and abilities deserve several more slams to her current tally. Based purely on her talent and abilities she really should go out at least on a par with Evert - just my opinion!

That sums it up quite good.

Serena and Azarenka in the final.

And: Probably we will have to best slam final in years.:oh:

Serena over Azarenka, hopefully !!! (though I prefer Sharapova in the final but I doubt she gets passed Vika ..)
Please Stosur, Sharapova or Serena , don't let Azarenka win a second Slam this year - one was fina already, but I couldn't bear if she beats all the top 10 I dislike less en route to a 2nd Slam :p

There is nothing that is going to stop Serena at this point. Joke draw to the final now (not that she needed it, I think she would have likely survived even a killer draw, but this just makes it more obvious) and in the final likely facing one of her pigeons Sharapova or Azarenka. Stosur if she makes the final might have a shot perhaps just because she has a history of giving Serena problems, especialy if Serena is even just a bit off, but the odds of Stosur surviving both Azarenka and then likely Sharapova to make the final, when she is their ultimate pigeon the same way those girls especialy maria are Serena's, is next to none.

Actually the worst thing Maria can do vs Serena is just to try to power bash through Serena. That is what she has tried in all their recent meetings and she gets slammed. She needs to do something almost foreign to her, mix it up. If she plays Azarenka she might have to mix it up some to win as well.

Disagree, she can't play clay court tennis and beat Serena on a hardcourt. She needs to rewind herself to when she was 17, and play exactly like she did in that final to have any chance.

She can't beat Serena on a HC, PERIOD. Regardless of what she does.

I was somewhat facetious at Wimbledon and the Olympics, but considering the insanity that has ensued, why even bother with this discussion ?
Matches, and Sets are beyond consideration when no one can even win a single GAME against Sereta.
