The interviewer said something like: "You played twice against Serena here on USO blah blah..." Ana answered: "Yes, I'll be looking for revenge." She was very emotional, almost in tears while speaking after the match, what she said is completely irrelevant.

The only purpose of this thread is to get bumped after the inevitable loss.

"I'll be looking for revenge." -Ana Ivanovic on the possibility of playing Serena next.

Is there a source for that quote? In the posted interview she doesn't say anything like that.

Q. It looks like you'll likely play Serena. In the past you have lost three matches, but do you think you had your chances in any of those sets?

ANA IVANOVIC: Well, in the last year when I played her here, I thought I had some chances in the second set from the memory. But, you know, it's always tough. She's obviously great player and she's been I think playing the best out of all the girls on tour at the moment. She's been, you know, having so many victories lately. Her serve is definitely her strength. You know, I really have to be sharp from the first moment on and stay aggressive and stay in the moment. You know, try to enjoy it as well and enjoy the challenge. It would be great opportunity for me.

No?

"She can play well," Ivanovic said. "If opponent does play well, you can't do much about them. You congratulate them and move on. I think that's a big part of the game of Serena and Venus, as well; they do intimidate players. That's something that I expect that's how they approach. I have my ways of approaching match. I know what they have got. So I'm going to try and match that and do better. But if they play well, all credit to them."

I saw in tha interview that they intimidate players because when they play their best it's very difficult to keep up with them. I see nothing about her saying she's unique in not being intimidated. You tried.

And as for what Ana would want revenge for, just having lost to her before? Isn't that enough to get "revenge"? I know some of y'all in here, cough LBV, are above looking into this for any other meaning than Ana saying she's going to try her best to beat her. Ana always says everything with charm and smile.

You cannot tell whether the story is sad or happy by looking at her face, you have to listen to the words

Yeah, and what do these words say? That she wants Serena's blood, perhaps?

She says this every time she's about to play against someone who beat her last time they played or something. She said that before she played against Larsson, Wozniacki, Henin and she said it now. Just because it's Serena Williams, it doesn't mean she has no right to say such thing. Now it's suddenly disrespectful to say: "I'm gonna be looking for revenge." Ana is a pro tennis player, not some Serena's 13 yo TF fangirl. She must try to win and if she gets destroyed, credits to Serena. After the double bagel against Vinci it wouldn't be such a big deal, she lost her dignity long time ago, now she really has nothing to lose, so she should just play and try to make the best of the rest of her career.

Anci has game, clearly. It's just that her backhand and not so great movement are a liability for her in this matchup. But I like her attitude. Go out there and give it everything you've got and play smart.

Ouch!

I'm a fan, but it's safe to say that she lost a lot of respect. She lost in R1 of every single slam and before 2009 it never happened. Before this year her worst loss was 63 60. Now she lost 61 60 to Vika and 60 60 to Vinci. She was losing to players who made the WTA MD for the first time, it even happened when she was #1. If there's someone who should not feel pressure at all, it's her. Fear of embarrassment shouldn't be there. If you have to lose, then lose on the court, not in the locker room.

Well she talked a better game than she played. Itīs good that she spoke with confidence, but she clearly didnīt believe in her own words and thatīs the problem.

People took this comment seriously, but all the tennis fans should know by now that Ana's words don't mean much. She was talking about getting the #1 spot back and winning slams for years and once she set some realistic goals (getting back to top 10 and reaching a slam QF), she made a progress. Back in 2006 and 2007 she was so realistic and mature, whatever happened after that.

0-6 0-6 ...... Someone should tell Serena that Ana is considered to be one of the most beautiful tennis players... Serena would look at her own stack of magazine covers, photo shoots, and TV appearances and conclude "No wonder she can't take a set off me."

She can speak English, but she is FAR from fluent at it.

I think she's saying this:
"I will be LOOKING OUT for Serena's revenge".

More particularly, she'll be more cautious when playing against Serena the next time they'll square off. She knows Serena will be out for blood.

The next time Serena played Daniela after the AO 2006 she ate another breadstrick and was lucky Daniela choked, so Serena can want all the blood she wants that she needs to get used to the fact that the match result doesn't entirely depend on her.

LA 2006. Yes Serena was absolutely stellar in that match.. Nvm she was just amazing the entire year.
