slava and vania never really looked like they'd threaten for the title here anyway. They fought well in the second round but kveta and julia were just to good today

errani and vinci await in the QF

What a clean match that was! Also loved the commentator when Gools got hit right in the face: "She's fine, she's German, she's hardcore!"

Watching Kveta play such excellent tennis is just a joy and makes me want her to redecide about her retirement plans:sad:

Already looking forward to see her play on this same court after the Bryan Bros..

Team Goerges played a good game. Congrats to them. They deserved it

Slava and Vania

Service games let Team Smile them down today. They started out well on their serve, but it soon faded. It was a close first set, which they may have lost due to a bad line call (Slava looked convinced it was out)

Again, Slava's serve was a liability :help:

we couldn't tell since she was blocking the line with her body. after she had hit it she still made a split step and was in ready position as Julia hit the volley winner - only then she raised her racket and wanted to challenge. Also, it was Asderaki's line and she had been overruling rightfully before so I doubt that this ball was out.

Well done Julia and Kveta :yeah: Impressive stuff. They really make a great team.

That hit to the face looked incredibly painful! That's gonna leave a mark. Loved how the post-match highlights showed the incident at every possible angle

King/Shvedova were horrible. Seemed confused as to what to do.

Julia was great at net.

Yeah we couldn't really tell. It may ahve been out, it may have been in. Slava left it too late to challenge. Only Del Potro can have late challenges ;)

Someone on here mentioned that Kveta said in an interview that this was her last season because she and her husband want to have children. I can't really confirm but it makes sense since she is already 37 years old and is a family person that loves her nephews for example.
