... on Ashe. Huge for a womens doubles match to lead the night on Ashe.

Kirilenko/Petrova v Williams on Ashe tomorrow night.

I don't think I've ever seen a doubles match headline a night session. That's just insane.
Someone fat forward this information to Simon or Stakhovsky.

Awesome news! Rarely do I see doubles matches air on TV, let alone on prime time! It will be fun to watch the Russians take on the Williams sisters.

About time we have doubles on Ashe. ESPN2 is scheduled to show the match if they do not let their studio people talk consistently and do interviews

Yet they still try to claim that the US Open is biased against them :weirdo:.

It's huge but not that huge - It's labor day, the Marquee session is the day session.

Yes BUT! Serena must play her singles first. So she wouldn't have been able to start her doubles until like 5:00pm. It would likely have not fit on CBS' schedule. So it fell perfectly into the night slot and USTA agreed.

At least I won't see this likely slaughter as it's scheduled at 1.00am here

Nevertheless I hope it will be an interesting match to promote doubles tennis.

They won the GOLD for us.Why not? Other countries giving cars to their medalist!

Yes, such as the team they're playing ;)

Don't act as if the opponent was irrelevant in terms of this scheduling choice. If the opponent tonight were nobody&nobody it wouldn't be on Ashe. It's a matchup between two Olympic medalist teams, and Kiri & Petrova gave the Williams sisters their closest match at both Wimbledon & the Olympics.

Alas, Kiri was an unhealthy mess two days ago & god knows what Petrova has left after yesterday's match, so my expectations are this one won't be as close, but I'm happy to see the recognition.
