Something was wrong with Kiri today.

No grunts, no fighting spirit, she looked stangely apathetic and slow on court.

Andi totally deserved this win though. Nice clean shots, few UEs.

Disappointing and frankly shocking loss for Makiri to this doubles specialist who never even made the main draw here in 5 previous attempts before this year. :( :(

Good win for Hlavackova. Kirilenko was under par today and Hlavackova was bossing her around.

Watched the last game, good stuff, great to see the crowd so involved, packed Grandstand! Kiri  No point in her winning anyways, she was going to lose to Serena, better Andrea gets her first R4 :cheer:

Odd Kiri lost, sort of match-up where you felt Andy does everything worse than Kiri.

Hlavackova in the 4th round of singles? So random. :spit: She played a great match though, going for her shots all the time and it was great to see her so elated with the win.
I guess every player deserves to get to the 2nd week of a GS once in career. I mean, even Domachowska has achieved it once.
Oh and what happened to Yonex outfits for Andrea? She was pulling them off better than Dementieva.

Kinda pissed because I wanted to see if she could do anything against Serena.

Oh well, at least some Kiri fans can stop complaining about hard draw now.

Congrats to Andrea, she played well from what I've seen.

Honestly I would never have imagined this in a million years but the world continues to be full of surprises and not all of them are bad. Some of them are pretty damn cool actually and seeing Andi get into a Grand Slam fourth round is definately rocks big time. :rocker:  :rocker2:

Q. Kirilenko is your next opponent. What are your thoughts about her game?

SERENA WILLIAMS: She plays really well. I have played her a few times. She brings such a challenge. She moves very well and she has such a tricky game. It will be a good challenge for me.

Epic win for her, great fight by both players, almost three hours! She has proved that she's far more than just an excellent doubles player.

Very nice crowd and atmosphere, but Ovechkin should have cheered more for her sweetheart instead of enjoying an ice cream

Last, the Czech #8 beats the Russian #2 :oh:

Kinda of thought that Andi had blown her chance when she couldn't serve it out at 5-4 in the 1st. Best singles match I have seen her play.

It was indeed. Andi really does look like over the last few months she has taken her tennis to a level far above the standard she had established over the previous 6 or 7 years she's been on the tour. Looks like she is now capable of regularly playing at a top 50 level right now.

Fantastic win for Andrea! Only caught the last set (plus tactical timeout), but she was really good, constantly putting pressure on Kirilenko and displaying great net skills. Unlucky 4th round opponent, but losing in 4th round to Serena is better than losing opening round to Clijsters (as happened at Wimbledon).

She's still not a great player from the baseline and often approaches the net after the wrong shot. And she's a frequent choker, luckily not today. Though mental fortitude should come with more wins.

Congrats to Andrea. She has a delightful personality and she is a very attractive young lady. She definitely deserves more exposure.

Maybe her off court she is delightful but on court she is feisty and argues with many line calls that go against her. She stops play walks up to the umpire chair, talks to them, etc. Made galina wait awhile during important games for stupid reasons and galina was definitely annoyed.

She has done this in Cincinnati and new York. I like her still but she may not be as nice as you may think, don't let her blonde hair and pretty looks fool you

Really happy for Andrea. I thought after the first when she served for the set at 5-4 then got broken, she'd fade away, but she did really well. Her biggest problem is she's really inconsistent in matches and can make simple errors. If she cleans up her game, she is Top 50 easily.

Just hope she comes out and plays her best against Serena.
