So Nadia will be the girl who traditionally sends Sharapova home before USO QF? Do it :yeah:

Tough for Lucie.

But I knew, she was going to crawl back during that last service game (running off consecutive points), just to DF on her second serve to lose the match.

That's so Lucie-fer!

Nadia :woohoo:

Can not wait for her showdown with Masha. Nadia has been slowly building recently, return to the top 10 next year should not be ruled out. She looks super fit as well.

Can't wait for the Petrova serve to outclass Pova's :D

NID. Even though the rest of her game has dissolved, Petrova is still probably one of the top 10 servers on the WTA, and she was going up against one of the worst returners... I'm actually surprised the scoreline is that competitive.

And Lucie's still without good run in Slams :sobbing:

i wouldnt bank on nadia being the one to send masha home. The h2h 8-1 in maria's favor and the one win nadia has over her is a walk over. What might help nadia is that she will be the first quality opponent maria has come across but i think it would still be a miracle if nadia actually pulled off th upset

Yes, I agree that Nadia looks super fit.
She is great to watch when playing like this, isn't she? 6 years on from her prime and she is still one of the best 16 players in the world on a regular basis.
As for Maria, she could beat her. She has the serve and the groundies and if Maria has one of those off days where she's blasting balls into the stands and yipping then Nadia could finally beat her.

In the second set, Lucie was up 4-3 and 40-30 on her own serve and double-faulted

Lucie.... :tape: Another R4 chance missed. Those stupid UEs keeps her far from Top. She should learn how to push...

Oh please, Nadia is either going to retire or win a handful of games against Maria

Still, this is a good result for her :yeah:

need to spread some hate, but the MP sums up Safarova's tennis: plain horrible, monodimentional and mental fragile
happy for Nadia :)

Sanchez has done a good job with Nadia. Unfortunately she & Kirilenko are in Serena/Venus section.
Playing Sharapova also, Nadia's going to see some big courts this major

Totally agree, I was so disgusted that I switched it off immediately

BTW, great sig with correct accents, but Lucie's precise name is "Šafářová"

I know, but apparently that accent doesn't exist with the font I was using and I was too lazy to change it. :oh:

No wonder, because

"Ř is specific for Czech language and for foreigners it is quite difficult to pronounce. It is mentioned in Guiness book of records as world´s rarest consonant and Czechs are really proud for having it."

Not sure about the 'being proud' thing though

What's the difference between a and á? Does á denote accented a? A word with two accents would be weird.

The accent indicates that the vowel is pronounced longer. E.g. in 'Navrátilová' the first 'a' is pronounced short, while the other two are pronounced long.

This rule applies to the other vowels as well (e, i, o, u versus é, í, ó, ú).

Isn't it similar in Polish?

No, we don't have shorter or longer vowels. It has to be confusing as hell to judge the length of the vowel.

For foreigners yes, but for native speakers it's easy, as they don't judge it. They know it.
