Expected more of Varvara after 1st set. But Sam was really good. :yeah: I was suprised she's not feeling a lot of pressure defending her title.

i expected a horror show in her first round and her to crash out but she's playing well

Ugly first set but once she won that she relaxed a little. She served well through out the entire match though and that was good to see. Sam :yeah:

sam didn't look great in set 1--lots of shanks. but glad she picked it up in the 2nd

Made harder work of that first set than she should have, but was in complete control in the second. Her serving was just amazingly good. Her groundies were so-so, so there's room for improvement there, but as long as she continues to serve this well she'll be tough to beat. Go Sam!:)

There are not a lot of things you can count on on the WTA Tour, but Sam Stosur´s Slam performances are one of them. Nerves bust at the Aussie Open. Contender at the French Open. Surface bust at Wimbledon. Contender at the US Open. Same stuff every year. :lol:
