What a stupid comment. Game wise (shank wise) there is no way Sam can be confortable playing on grass, plus Sam is not a youngster either, so don´t wait for her to peak for grass anytime soon.

What on earth made her say this? Alicia seems to be a reasonable woman.

It's tough enough for players whose games are suited to grass-- Davenport, Sharapova, Henin, Clijsters, Bartoli, Lisicki, Kvitova; to make SEVERAL Wimbledon finals. Sam would do well to make another final at RG or USO in her career (very conceivable).

Sam relies on spin to get the ball up and away from her opponents, and on grass it just sits there for some BBB to bash it down the court back at her, resulting in a shank.

Given that you're the only person who complained about it, maybe you should take a hint. :)

To be honest Stosur has the game to win ANY slam but it's the head that keeps her away from doing that. It's true that grass is her least best surface but you know, she has power and a nice serve. She fails on that serve because she's not willing to compromise on hitting the flat serve and forehand because of her determination to keep her style of play on every surface, and it's a shame I think.

I'm a Stosur fan and I think that Sam does SO bad on grass because of the mental factor, I think that a player who has had so much success in doubles in Wimbledon and has made the SF 3 times in Eastbourne should definitely do better in Wimbledon, I don't know something like R3 or R4 as average, but I don't see Sam being capable of making the final at Wimbledon...

The main reason being that there was a time when the Aussies were very competitive at Wimbledon, the Aussies never had as much success at the other two (French & USO)

Well I like Alicia but that makes me doubt about her tennis knowledge if she really meant that as in single finals. Even Stosur's serve is less effective on grass cuz it takes away the big advantage on the kick serve. Her groundies having loads of spin on them as well are much more less effective and it's just too quick for her to adjust to the balls.
