What a choke, watching a choke on a livescore is always interesting, always makes me wanna actually see it in person.

 Apparently Johanna received a lot of treatment on her thigh. Hope this is nothing major.

Complete reversal of her first round match, she was leading 5-2 then lost 5 games in a row. :( But nonetheless it has been a great tournament for her! :)

Sad to hear she got injured, that explains a lot then

Sorry not buying this thigh "injury" as a reason for such an epic choke.

:(

Tough loss to serve for the match and be that close so many times but unable to get over the finish line.

Journos on twitter being particularly disparaging about Olga's grunting.

She was leading 5-2 in the third. I don't think it was an injury. Maybe some cramping earlier, but that was a choke.

Seriously these journalists need to get over the grunting, its not going away so deal with it.

How come that everybody here is so sure that it was a choke by Konta? Did anybody of you actually see the match? After all, Govortsova is certainly the better player than Konta, so itīs possible that she turned it around on her own, thanks to her improved and more focused play ...

Only 2 of the Top 16 seeds out, hardly a mess by WTA standards. The 16-32 bracket is usually irrelevant anyway.

Took inspiration from Babos in the last round, it would seem.

Jo

Don't think it was a choke as such. From BBC

"My whole trip to the US has been quite full on," said Konta. "I've played a lot of matches, which is a good thing. Obviously I would have liked to have made it one more."
Konta praised Govortsova, adding: "I believe she raised her level and I unfortunately didn't. I wasn't moving as well as I would have liked and I wasn't serving as well as I would have liked, but credit to her. She played a very solid five games.

"I do not feel, coming off the court, that I let it go. I have to improve from every match, win or lose.

"But it's definitely positive. I had three very tough rounds in qualifying and this was my first Grand Slam qualifying event ever. Wimbledon was my first Grand Slam, so I do think I'm heading in the right direction and picking up on things quickly."
