I have no idea how this Mallory girl is but she might actually challenge Maria .

Maria to win in two nevertheless.

mallory is kind of like a lesser version of bartoli and we know how maria fares against her. Maria should win this easily

Cleverbot hopes that Mallory wins:

Will Mallory Burdette beat Sharapova?
I hope so. The world would be a bit better.

I hope Mallory can win more games than Capra did in 2010. :tape:

If history tends to repeat itself, we'll have a sweet little result in R4.

I can't see Maria losing this although I haven't seen Burdette hit a ball yet. I really don't want Burdette to win and this isn't because of being a Maria fan but I just don't want her to earn more money she can't have. She's like an intern...

yes I know they are doing this work for the experience but it just seems wrong to me on all levels to watch them out there working their ass off taking home no pay.

I have not really watched Burdette I think she will win some games though.

I'd be surprised if Burdette wins more than four games here

I agree with this. It seems, silly. I don't think it's any different than having a summer job. there are such a thing as paid internships and plenty of people who work, say, in business management Go do paid internship for prestigious corporations.

Like an intern, amateurs know what is involved when they sign up for tournaments.
Unlike an intern, amateurs can opt to take the check and give up their status, especially if they make it far enough and the money seems worth it.

This will be a good match, similar to R1 match with Czink.

Her style is very similar to Cake's.

Martha probably 6-2, 6-1

Mal will need to be playing her absolute best and have to hope for a meltdown from Martha's end to have a shot at beating her.

I guess Mallory's Mum, Dad and brother/sister expect her to win in 3. Not sure who the 8 are who think she'll do it in 2 though:confused:

She got a 4 year scholarship to Stanford, even if she wins today the scholarship is worth more.

If she was going to win it, it's FAR more likely she'd do it in 2 than in 3, with Maria's 3-set record

You seem to be labouring under the impression that I think that Mallory has a non-zero chance of winning in any number of sets. Or are you just so proud of Maria's 3-set record that you can't resist mentioning it again here? ;)
