With Sabine not able to defend her title in Dallas, it's onwards to New York City. I'm pretty excited! Hopefully no injuries, or rust and her serve makes it's way to the Big Apple with her.

Auf geht's, Bine! :bounce:

Her start in New Your is still endangered. Still no sign of her about her health or something... Don't know why, but I fear the worst :sobbing:

Let's hope not. She has some serious points to defend no? If my memory serves me correctly she reached the 4th round right? Or am I totally making that up?

Edit: Just checked-- yep, reached 4R last year.

Sabinator.
Aug 22nd, 2012, 03:15 PM
4th round of GS is quite a good amount of points. In Sabine's case, defend of these points will be very difficult.

my thoughts, Cirstea in first round of a slam is never good, H2H is not good aswell, if i remember right.

Michael!
Aug 23rd, 2012, 04:37 PM
H2h is awful, she never won against Cirstea but often choked!
Tashkent final she had MPs, if I remember right, then last year she served for the match and lost and third time she had to retire, so...

Anyway, Cirstea is  herself, never know what u get, same with Sabine, I expect an ugly match over three sets but sure, could be that Sabine goes out.
Tatishvili or Foretz on the other hand are both more than beatable if Sabine should win

edit: possible 3rd round vs Görges :lick:

lets be optimistic. Maybe the brainless moron who cant keep a ball in play version of cirstea will show up. She should win her second round if she gets past the first round and then julia has a horrible record in 3rd rounds

so i could see her defending her 4th round..but maybe im being to optimistic

Oh no...Sori and then Julia...I always hate it if some of my faves play each other :sobbing:

It's good news for Bine though regarding R1, on a bad day (which are common) Sori is beyond brainless and will lose to absolutely everyone.

TimeyWimey

the most unpredictable r1 match for sure

Mike81
Aug 24th, 2012, 01:25 AM
OMG Out of all the possible combinations my two favourite players are drawn with eachother!

Bine's never beaten Sori, but in a slam is the best time to change that stat. I suppose if Bine's lost then atleast it wouldn't be too devastating for me but really I care about Bine's career more than Sori's and Bine really needs the points and to win a few rounds.

US OPEN Day 1 (Monday August 27): Court 13
11:00 AM Sorana Cirstea (ROU) vs. Sabine Lisicki (GER)[16]

JohnMcP
Aug 25th, 2012, 08:21 PM
Wow -- the two most unpredictable players on court "13".

For both of these players, how they are feeling at the moment means more than who is on the other side of the court. I won't be surprised by anything. I'm just glad I'm not the bookie who has to set the odds for this match.

Hopefully Bine has been able to put in the work and her injury won't be a factor.

The worst birthday of my life. Why Sabine why

Hey, my birthday was yesterday so...yeah, too bad about Sabine. I don't know what to think about her. She has the game, the pieces are all there she just has to find a way to put them together.

Andy_Murray_88
Aug 27th, 2012, 08:39 PM
Really disappointing to see her go out first round, I'm guessing that's quite a few rankings points lost?

I guess she wasn't really hard court ready after picking up a few injuries lately but I still expected her to scrape through a few rounds.

I was thinking while watching the match how Sabine always seems to give you a 3 set roller coaster, she never seems to comfortably steamroller her opponents like the top players can in early rounds of tournaments. If she's going to be top 10 and a grand slam contender she's going to have to get more consistent, saving her energy for the later rounds of tournaments, although this is obviously hard given the amount of injuries she seems to regularly pick up, its like she's always trying to regain her form and then another one comes along .

"I have today for the first time played pain-free, but easy to train enough. Since Wimbledon I had a stomach muscle injury without knowing someone. But Olympia is only every four years, I wanted to play at any cost. There shall be no be an excuse, but it just lacked the time up to the U.S. Open. surcharges I could train it again. But I am a fighter and wanted to try it, "said Lisicki.

"I'm disappointed, but actually I have played the points right now. Only the last ball I have not played to the end, often from minimal to almost slyly. Because simply lack the training and matches, then comes back," said the 22-year-old.

No pain no gain!

That doubles scoreline looks good, didn't expect it. Maybe I can still hope for a big doubles run? get her confidence and match fitness back a bit with that. I love Bine so much :hearts: and I really have been going through withdrawals. Her year peaked with the win over Sharapova and I wasn't able to watch much of her Olympics matches and the loss to Cirstea was on a dodgy stream at 2 am for me and then it rained, I went to sleep and got up and found out she lost. Give me something please Bine.

I understand you Mike. We all want the best to our star :hearts: I hope her gain confidence and power after these doubles, cause EVERY single minute spended on a court for Sabine is a milestore for the ending tournaments of the season. She must fight right now for the seed in AO, cause she's on the edge. I really hope in Tokio and Beijing () we'll see compeltely other and better Bine :) But still health is the most important thing...

why the hell couldnt she do that in singles?. Its funny, watching live scores there were times when her and shuai would go down 0-30 on serve and then they'd win 4 points in a row and i could just picture sabine just blasting 4 huge serves in a row to hold.

maybe she can have a good run here and have a good end to her season anyway

that why i'm worried about another injury from the doubles in the open, that would be totally catastrophic, even though she's little over 200 pts to defend towards next season, being unseeded at grandslam would mean another possible early exit at melbourne

tbh i highly doubt the victory in doubles would add anything to her confidence in singles, except for fun, which she always has;)

Sabine didn't appear to be aware of it either or even the rule that you had to actually use the bathroom. When she was pleading her case before Lynn Welch, she merely did handwashing gestures with her hands, assuming that it would be ok to use the break just for handwashing.

It's surprising to see how consistent her doubles performances are, yet her singles results are very up & down. I wonder if Sabine needs a sports pyschologist? Many top athletes seek help from professionals, who try to solve demons between the ears. When Sabine's playing doubles she gains energy and confidence from having somebody next to her, but struggles with singles when she's out on her own. I might be talking absolute garbage, it's just a personal observation that she has mental issues to overcome before she maximises her true ability

Echt?

Oh well, at least she can get out of NY and concentrate on arresting her singles decline
