I wonder where it will be hosted. I hope the Netherlands :D
They can't give it t Israel again :( That would be unfair given their sportsmanship levels

It terms of realistic guessing, I think it will be held in GB, Netherlands, Slovenia, Israel or Turkey. Israel and Turkey are the only places warm enough to have it outdoor and the other nations are the only ones with Indoor facilities that could host 4 pools with 2 sesions :)

Aug 15th, 2012, 12:53 PM
Actually you don't need any special facility to get Fed Cup. Even Portugal, Hungary, Estonia already hosted. ;) Everyone can get it.

Oh :)
But I still doubt some of the countries will offer due to Economic Crises. Hungary may due to their Olympic Success and the fact they have a great chance to qualify. There are many lowly ranked teams that are very unlucky as they could have very difficult opponents in their pool. Like Poland could have Romania/Netherlands, Hungary and then Georgia

Pretty sure Eilat will host it for many more years. Unless Israel gets promoted/relegated.

According to this report one of the reasons behind the decision to have Israel host again, is the new 75k tournament added the week before, that is to be held in the same place. A tournament that will allow players to prepare better for fed cup.

Will this still be held in Eilat despite everythIng going on there?

I doubt Mayr-Achleitner won't play. For Belarus, I'm sure Kustova and Dzehalevich want to play. I doubt Jurak will play for Croatia even though she should. Unlikely that Khazaniuk returns to the Israeli team. And I doubt Czink will play for Hungary.

Other than that I pretty much agree with what PainfulTruth said, except about Georgia (I agree with Gigi)

Eilat is about 200 KM from Gaza, the Hamas rockets can go only as far as about 80 KM - so no major concern regarding that issue. But, there's always that chance for a terrorist to do something (but that chance is not exclusive to Israel).
And I don't know anything about Khazaniuk, we barely hear about her in Israel...

Man, that was a rule last year. Don't offend me or I am reporting you.
There was no play-off drawing.
And Belarus is in poll 1, Great Britain in poll 2, Slovenia in poll 3 and Poland in poll 4.

If they place seeds 1-4 into the pools and don´t use draw, then they can´t.

Meelis
Jan 13th, 2013, 12:08 PM
Ok

When drawing the Nations into two round-robin groups the highest seeded
Nation shall be placed in one group and the second seeded Nation shall be
placed in the other group. Thereafter the remaining Nations shall be drawn in
pairs according to the Nations Ranking.
If more round-robin groups are used the same principles shall be followed.

They can still meet in WG II play-off ;)

Ok

They can still meet in WG II play-off ;)

That rule doesn't actually say they can't be drawn to meet in the Saturday zonal play-off, just that the top 4 ranked teams have to be in separate groups.

In group 1' the winner of A plays C, and B plays D.

The top seeds are ranked as Belarus, GB, Slovenia, Poland.

If they just do it straight in order, then it would be Belarus v Slovenia and GB vs Poland in theory, but I'm not sure if it is actually a formal rule it has to be done that way and that they cant draw the top seeds at random to choose which of group A,B,C or D each is placed in. Certainly the rule you quoted doesn't say that in a two group zone the top team has to be in pool A and the other in pool B, just that there has to be one in each.

In practice it seems easiest to just place the top seeds into pools in rank order, at least to avoid a theoretical 1vs 2 and 3vs4 for the Saturday playoff.

Indeed that's what they did last year, so it does seem likely Poland v Belarus would only happen in the World Group II match in April.

Draw

Pool A

Belarus
Austria
Croatia
Georgia

Pool B

Great Britain
Portugal
Hungary
Bosnia & Hercegovina

Pool C

Poland
Romania
Israel
Turkey

Pool D

Slovenia
Netherlands
Bulgaria
Luxembourg

So apparently they didn't follow that procedure...

Israel got a pretty tough draw I think, some work to do just to stay up.

GB have got a pretty nice half of the draw. Don't think anyone will challenge them.

C'mon GB - nice looking draw.

I think Slovenia will struggle here, although they have a potentially very good doubles pairing. Netherlands should win that group provided Rus can get out her funk and beat the Bulgarian #2. I don't think Pironokova is strong enough to carry Bulgaria through the doubles (assuming she beat Bertens anyway).

I saw Tina play Fed Cup in Holland in 1999, one day it rained we walked just 500meters away and they had 4 indoor courts ready... will that happen here also? ;)

Not really there are indoor courts on site :p
It's Eilat. It rarely rains there. ;)
