Singles First ROund

[1]Xhakalinda SAikikimbondwe def. Mpule Kwaleglobe 6-0, 6-0
Ouch. THe world number one is back. THat was an awful punishment. A total of four points for Botswana's top junior player.

Sasha Shapovalova def. Nicole Haas 6-3, 7-6[2]
Sasha is one of the few players who has a positive head2head with the world number one Saikikimbondwe. Xhaka would like to change that tomorrow.

Kryllona Aseynova def. Khunyah Nomyan 6-1, 7-5
Kryllona didn't have any troubles with her doubles partner this time round.

[2]Miranda Frost def. [WC]Izabela Torres 6-3, 2-6, 7-5
Finally some good tennis from the newcomer from Puerto Rico. But the world number two proved too strong for her in the end.

Izabela boarding a plane to Cincy to cheer in her big Sis I guess, hahaha.

Aug 16th, 2012, 12:27 AM
C'mon Sasha! Aiming to be in the top 10 by the USO :) A win against Xhaka would dearly help her cause

Singles Semi Finals

[1]Xhakalinda Saikikimbondwe def. Sasha Shapovalova 7-5, 6-1
Xhaka saved one set point at 4-5 in the first set and took out one of her very best friends on tour. Sasha has been struggling big time lately and needs some good results to make it to the top 10.

[2]Miranda Frost def. Kryllona Aseynova 5-7, 7-6[11], 7-5
The world number one will face another good friend in the final, as Miranda saves six match points in the second and three in the third set [with four aces and five service winners] to move to the singles final.

Great fight Miranda :rocker2:

She is making finals after finals lately. Looking good for US Open.

Aug 16th, 2012, 02:32 PM
But she loses a lot of them
She might be the runner-up again. That would nearly close the gap to Xhaka btw

This would mean 3 GS finals + Championships title in the ranking.

Aug 16th, 2012, 02:54 PM
True :). And only two GS finals and nothing at YEC for Xhaka. All about the smaller events then
I can see Xhaka lose the Nr.1 singles ranking but not the doubles one this year TBH

Aug 17th, 2012, 02:04 AM
lose 6 MP? a new record hahaha! good match :)

Aug 17th, 2012, 08:11 AM
Singles Final

[1]Xhakalinda Saikikimbondwe def. [2]Miranda Frost 7-5, 6-1
Xhaka dominates the final between the by far best players on the tour. She re-installs herself as the better hard-court player of the two, while Miranda dominates their Head2Head on clay.

Aug 17th, 2012, 08:12 AM
Doubles Final

[1]Frost/Saikikimbondwe def. [2]Aseynova/Nomyan 6-1, 7-5
The singles world numbers one and two reunited after the singles final to sail through to an easy doubles victory over the in-form team from Azerbaijan and Thailand who are also still in the run for the YEC.
