Hi, guys...Angie is to defend big points as semi-finalist in Shanghai this year...But, Shanghai for 2003 is going to be Princess Cup which is moved from Tokyo...Indeed, tier II...So, does anyone know how the points will work? I mean, for players who did play at Shanghai and Princess Cup this year? Like Angie, will she lsoe her points at all or if she is participating in S'hai in 2003...she is counted as new participant with no points to defend? Por favor!   :wavey: :wavey: :wavey:

Nov 27th, 2002, 07:17 AM
Good Luck Angie :)

Nov 27th, 2002, 07:54 AM
Go Angie!!!!! :bounce:

Nov 27th, 2002, 12:13 PM
lokamaya, Angie still need to defend Shanghai SF points(60 pts). And yes next year's Shanghai tournament move back one week, but she can still defend those points in Bali next year as Bali will replace this year Shanghai's spot. Angie didn't play singles in Princess Cup due to her good performances in Shanghai this year, so if she will play Shanghai next year, yes she will be counted as new participant with no points to defend at that week :wavey: .

Good luck Angie! Hope you to get a surprise by defeat seeded player on there! :lick: whoever she is!
And, good luck to Wynne too. Will she in the maindraw or will she take qualifier zone? Well, perhaps she'll join Angie in maindraw.

Hardiansf...Wynne is safe since she is inside top 110...Her ranking is now 105...Yes, she is together with Angie, Ai Sugiyama, Tamarine Tanasugarn, Iroda Tulyaganova, Cho Yoon Jeong, and Shinobu Asagoe as the seven Asian magnificents in the MAIN DRAW of 2003 Aussie Open!!!

It will be great for Angie & Wynne to reach up to 3rd round along with Cho & Asagoe! AI and Tammy should go up to 4th round at least...as well as Iroda! If they do that, it will be quite a celebration for Asia! :wavey:  :wavey: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

Ooops, I left out Akiko Morigami who received wild card since she came out as the winner at the Asian Championships right after AG Busan which was held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan! Yes, we will have 8 Asian ladies in main draw! It is awesome!:wavey: :bounce: :wavey: :bounce: :wavey: :bounce:

Nov 30th, 2002, 11:25 AM
I doubt wynne can get into the main draw directly since she will not be playing any tournament before OZ Open.. I guess she had points to defend on gold coast and adidas sydney :( :(

Morover, there are other players who is below her fighting to get into the main draw spot!!!

The exhibition match between Venus & Angie is cancelled since there is no sponsor!!! It is really stupid...in a way it is crazy because the largest bank in the country just signed the deal to sponsor 25 billion rupiahs for national soccer league...and I think it is a rubbish!!! It is better for this bank to sponsor tennis since it is good PR for them...especially Angie is popular now! Who cares about Indonesian soccer!:(

Dec 3rd, 2002, 03:11 PM
Good Luck Angie!!!

Dec 4th, 2002, 01:56 AM
Excuse me lokamaya, I'm an employee of the Bank you mention. I do like tennis, especially we now have Angie and Wynne.
But, our management has its own policy to do marketing. Maybe they consider football is more popular than tennis right now and more people watch football, not just in big cities even in villages. Don't be mad.
Go Indonesian !

For tennisku...I appreciate your assertiveness!!! I undertsand your coy's point of view or policy or whatever you called it...But I have my point of view...How long your coy has been sponsoring this national soccer league? What is the result for the national soccer? Nothing...I know, for your coy is to PR-ing your status as the largest bank nation wide...I understand it...But so far, not many Indonesian coys look at tennis which obviously has already gained world attention...For example, Yayuk Basuki's achievements in the past and now, Angie is on the rise...We have wasted our junior tennis players, they are very talented but they have no sponsors to play abroad...Thanks!

Angie has planned to have charity exhibition in a tennis match against Venus Williams in early January 2003...But, IMG - the international organizer so far could not find any sponsor for it...so, it is decided to be cancelled...Actually, the donation was going to be given to the Bali bombing's victims...The organizer has also planned as alternate to have Anna Kournikova in the case of Venus' unavailability...Oh, well...Indonesian tennis maniacs must wait for more years to have the privilege to watch world calibre tennis match...  :(

Dec 4th, 2002, 05:04 AM
Yeah, lokamaya! Sponsorship is our nation's big problem in promoting our talented athletes, not only for tennis. Continued economy crisis is one of causes.
So we just hope there may be miracle (economy recovery and so on) from sky down to our country, hence there will be more attention to sports, especially tennis.

Shine On Silver Moon
Dec 4th, 2002, 06:02 AM
Tennisku...Miracle does happen but in this case, our nation is having very very complex problems as you know...We need to have more leaders or statesmen with strong political and moral will! It will take very to heal all these problems...so, let us start from our own home...in becoming modest and sincere people! And indeed, in sports like tennis we can learn it...

Yes, I agree with you, lokamaya.

Holiday seasons are getting closer and so Aussie Open, Angie is busy preparing herself for both events...She is being interviewed in special edition of national newspaper as young role model of Indonesia and she admits that she is very very proud to be Indonesian...As tennis player, she is also well-equipped with various knowledges about the global issues! And it is great to know that Angie is doing great as our ambassador in tennis!!! Go, Angie...Go, young rising slam!:) :D :wavey: :bounce: :wavey: :bounce:

thats a good news to hear from u guys in indonesia that angie is doing fine..

anyway do u guys have any idea who is her doubles partner for aus open..??

Shine On Silver Moon
Dec 22nd, 2002, 07:13 AM
Based on the latest info, she still has no idea who is going to be her dbl partner...I do not know, maybe she is keeping it for herself and she wants to make a surprise...Here, some of us - tennis maniacs - have prposed some names such as: Roberta Vinci, Annabel Medina Garrigues, Tathiana Garbin & Shinobu Asagoe and even Wynne Prakusya who is impossible...IMO, since Garbin is listed in Canberra...It will be great to see Angie to team-up with Tax again 'coz they had played several times this year with results as winner in Bol and quite good until 3r in Roland Garros! If Hsieh Su Wei is around, Angie and Hsieh would make a great dbl pair...Early this year, they have made some damages together!!! My choice is between Tax and Vinci!:) :D :wavey: :wavey: :wavey: :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

In fact, Widjaja is very lack of power. Every one knew it. No one without power to be a top player right now. Look at the sisters, Capriati, davenport, momo, clijters, Dokic, Henin (esp. her serve).
How hard the hit the ball, compare it with Widjaja

In her form now, she just a little girl. If she want to be a great one, she should change her body and get it more muscular.;)

Anyway, GO ON WIDJAJA:bounce: :bounce:

Jan 12th, 2003, 02:39 PM
Yeah, i want an ASIAN to be very powerful and serve and hit the ball very-very hardly, more than the sisters. no more moonball (or bola2 melambung gak karuan pls)......
