Hlavackova and Hradecka have been in all three Grand Slam semis so far this year including making the Wimbledon final. They definately deserve a place in the top 4 seeds. So I'd put them above Kirilenko/Petrova. Aside from that one change, I'm with you.

I kept the seedings what they should be based on rankings with the exception of Venus/Serena who without a doubt should be top 2. This is what I think will happen by the ITF. I do get your point about Hlavackova/Hradecka though (however a little unfair to Petrova/Kirilenko who were injured at Aussie and had WS in R2 at Wimbledon).

Considering the rule about teams from the same nation not being in the same half, and assuming they won't seed Venus and Serena below 4th, I hope they give them 2nd seed. That should keep them away from Sara and Roby.

I'd just go by ranking with the seeding, at least I'd seed the first 7 teams in the ranking, and then I'd put Venus and Serena somewhere among the first 3.

This must be a joke:hysteric:

Basically everyone except Huber/Raymond, Kirilenko/Petrova and Pennetta/Schiavone can get Venus/Serena in the first round now.:hysteric:

They have a better combined singles ranking...

yeah that's the best way to seed doubles players
anyway ...
they never/barely play together / V&S are multiple Slam winners and just won Wimbledon
very logical...

which still is idiotic imo but anyway playhingso little the Williams sisters would have needed a special exemption to be seeded and there has to be a rule to seed players but IMO only doubles rankings should matter ..

The ITF said that they wouldn't base seedings on rankings only.
Obviously they did look only at rankings though.

Doubles players were pretty vocal about it in 2008.

Guessing the ITF felt the only team the WS needed to stay away from were Liezel/Lisa, and they're already guaranteed to not be together in the draw.

I completely agree about doubles ranking should be the only factor except when Williams/Williams is in the draw. You do what you can to protect the other seeds. Look at what happened in Wimbledon. 6 seeds were burned through in the title run by them. And this event is at Wimbledon AGAIN, how can you not seed them?

Meelis
Jul 26th, 2012, 12:49 PM
They are in the same section as Kerber/Lisicki. "Upset" in R2? ;)

Uranium
Jul 26th, 2012, 12:50 PM
^Yes. But same section as Errani/Vinci. One of them (slim to none chance that neither) will not have a chance at medaling. Which is why top 4 seeding would have been smart to do for WS.

Meelis
Jul 26th, 2012, 12:57 PM
Yeah. Since they reserved the right to adjust seedings, if necessary.

Guess the Williams Sisters are the "real 5th seeds".
