Never heard of this German girl Lena Rueffer before, playing #1 for Germany she lost to Jaqueline Cristian 8-6 in the third set :bolt:
Germany still won with Rueffer/Gerlach winning deciding doubles.
Russia barely squeaking through these matches...

GBR against ESP was a tough on. Sucks for Spanish girls  GBR should be the favourites to win.

Hungary losing with Galfi

We have a good team but we seem to under perform in these team events.

But not this time.
It was a pity for spain because we have a good team. Marta Cañas unfortunately has little experience, but it was a close match against Taylor (26 64 64), and at least Payola won easily (again) against Lumsden (63 61). Unfortunately our doubles are not that good.

But good for GBR, they have an incredible team, but for no reason they used to lose in this qualys tournament. Maybe this time they take the whole competition, they have a team to win it for sure.

And yes, German number one is really a surprise. I think Christian is not as good on clay as she is in other surfaces, but that was a tough match

Slovakia are also very strong. Kuzmova and Mihailikova have career high rankings of #1 and #2 respectively at the TE U14 rankings. Slovakia won their group easily (18-0 sets, 105-31 games)!

GBR doing well but Lumsden struggling.

Yes, Lumsden seems to be a good player but quite irregular, sometimes she has great results but not here, i thought she would lose with Payola and Fridman (but not that she would be defeated so easily) but this loss with Curnic is more surprising. Maybe she is better in hard courts and clay is not her surface

I wouldn't be surprised if she was better on faster surfaces. She is, after all, British. However, I believe her itf profile says clay is her favourite surface. To be honest though, the '98 girls seem so close in results and talent that on any given day they can beat each other.
