1. Who is Shnack?
2. Why arent Su-Wei/Timea playing together?

tough quarter for Willies. If they can come out of that they should have a straightforward path to the title.

Vania must have gotten REALLY desperate :o Schnack is a decent doubles player, but Vania could have done a hell of a lot better...

According to one of the other threads, she is a last minute replacement for Kanepi.

Williams unseeded.

There are so many random teams this time. It will be interesting how many of the national pairings stick after the Olympics.

Haha. Jankovic/Razzano. Williams slayers. In the same section of the draw as the Williams. This will be entertaining.

King and Schnack are best friends and Schnack was already headed to London so when Kanepi withdrew Vania asked Yasmin.

So Nuri/Pepa, former YEC winners against SereNus and BlUber, are some random team? :sobbing:

Finally William sister's BACK....

But I'll be angry if they lose in early rounds like RG MIX.

COME ON, LETS GO. :(

I was wondering who pulled out of singles and got the LL spot and found out it was Misa, but I was gonna say, why not her and Vania, but obviously not.

King/Schnack will have the weakest serve of the draw by far. Schnack was a great player at UCLA, but her serves were easy pickings for everyone she played.

I saw all the main contenders for the title play today (it was a great OOP for women's doubles).

Errani/Vinci probably look the sharpest so far. They ooze confidence and it's understandable given they haven't lost in forever. They are a delight to watch too, working as a combination just perfectly.

Williams/Williams were great today but I think they can (and will as the tournament goes on) play much better. A lot obviously depends on Venus' energy, she was not putting enough of her volleys away as she normally does. They're still the favourites though and a final with the Italians would be fitting (and very likely a preview to the Olympics).

Peschke/Srebotnik - mostly good, sharp as usual in early rounds. They played good enough to get through today but will have to step it up. Their next match will say a lot more.

Huber/Raymond - by far the least convincing, despite the 6-0 finish. Raymond looked so ineffective and lacking in confidence. To be fair though Cadantu was outstanding and easily MVP of the first set, probably should have won it. First time I've seen her play, was not expecting that!

Other than perhaps NLV/MJMS (who also played today but I didn't get around to seeing them), I don't see any other team as a main contender.

What almost ruined the day for me was seeing Paola Suarez as such a shadow of her former self. It's nice she's playing again but this is an 8-time GS winner not even able to keep the ball in court (let alone put it away) against two much less experienced players. I'm just glad she already has her Olympic medal.
