Okay, we all know Serena's famous quote directed at umpire Eva Asderaki at last year's U.S. Open. Now, just recently I found myself using it as well, which probably goes to show how tennis obsessed I am. :p Here's the story:

I'm currently working on the practical part of my medical studies, which of course entails working in an actual hospital. We get another student joining us named Matthew, and from the first sight, I have a crush. He's tall, VERY handsome, and well built. That crush lasts until the guy actually opens his mouth. It turns out he's a spoiled rich boy who went to some fancy boarding school, got BMW's for his birthday, won't stay in anything less than a 5-star, you know the type. Everything is a joke with this guy; you try to work with him and you get nothing but jokes, movie quotes, and sarcastic nonsense, at least a dozen times before getting a straight answer. For weeks all of this has been working on my nerve. Finally, I pulled him aside and told him: "You really need to grow up. It's okay to joke around every once in awhile, but it gets old very quickly if you do it constantly. You're not at boarding school anymore; this is a hospital!" - so of course then he goes around telling everyone that I'm just a "bitch", and I "can't take a joke" and then starts making up stories that I was angry because I asked him out and he rejected me. So, I start trying to avoid him completely, until I'm going to check on an old man who happens to be my favourite patient, and Matthew comes barging in saying: "Okay, we got to get this place sorted out, Old Izak died of cardiac arrest a couple of hours ago", and of course I am sitting there looking shocked and sad, until he adds "Just kidding, he's out for a walk!". :fiery: And of course then, my response is, quite simply: "Matthew... that was just awful. You're very unattractive inside". Immediately, his eyes hit the floor, and I thought he was going to cry. Now since then, he won't talk or make eye contact with anyone, and told one of my co-workers that me calling him unattractive inside was "the worst thing anybody has ever said to him". (I guess maybe that's how Eva felt when Serena called her that ) I suppose that deep down inside he's just an insecure little boy whose parents didn't pay much attention to him. But of course there is no need for him to behave the way he does.

Has anybody else ever used the "unattractive inside" line? Or anything else that a tennis player said? :p

Serena stole "If i'm walking down the hallway you better look the other way" from me.
And the "Last time I checked this is AMERICA" is a CLASSIC line.

I don't mind joking around but it gets very irritating when that's all someone does all day long... Especially if you're trying to work with them.

Yes. I was yelling that at Mr.SerenaWilliams the other week when he beat me in our tennis warm ups.

On a serious note, maybe you could have phrased it better, but classic Serena never fails to deliver. There's other hot hunky men in the world who don't have the maturity of a 9 year old.

Well, we don't call it Pgy here, but I do know what you're talking about, and it's my first year. My speciality is internal medicine. :)

Oh my gosh I'm glad the doctors here aren't like that. That guy is really *that* type, being spoonfed praise his entire life and shellshocked when someone says something like that. Good on you though, these wankers need to know.

Good on you but personally I don't find "unattractive inside" a very insulting phrase. Maybe it's just me but it wouldn't be anything close to the "worst thing I've ever heard in my life".

Tell him about how you're going to shove balls down his throat next time or something. That should shut him up for good.

Do rich people grow up that coddled they never hear any criticism or anything disparaging that this is the worst insult? If somebody said that to me i'd just laugh and say in a flirty way, "Well, at least the outside is working for you." *wink*

On the positive it means he does have a working heart in there that could be hurt.
