This is where we will follow her ranking and look at the tournaments she will be playing
This will only be opened on a temporary basis and will be shut if no one follows it :)

If Kaia doesn't pull out of Eastbourne, she will be the 8th seed :cheer:
I hope she doesn't play through injury though :scared:

Kaia is currently second seed in Bastad too but that week she is also playing in Palermo so she may not play in Bastad. I would recommend that she does because she will be a higher seed and not have to face Radwanska :oh:

She has already pulled out of Eastbourne.

Kaia now only has 16 tournaments
Soon she will start getting 0's :scared:
Luckily for her she has only 9 tournaments of 100 points or more so she really will have an easy run to the top 10 if she can play well until Brisbane next year :)

Thanks vik :)
Do you know if Estonia plans on getting more events?
With Anett rising, Kaia sustaining herself and Kenneth and Jurgen coming Estonia should be able to at least get a 25K on top of their 10s :)

I know it's good to have 10s so the younger ones can play tournaments but it would be good to have larger ones too :)

I like Kaia's schedule except for maybe Palermo/Bastad and Dallas instead of New Haven. If she does well at wimbledon, Palermo is not good as she will be playing 4 weeks in a row and a quaick change from Grass to Clay is always hard. Bastad isn't as good either as she has Olympics and if she does well in Palermo she may not make good sue of her practice in London for Olympics

Kaia's website was very informative before. Now they don't update the calendar anymore (maybe because she wasn't sure to play Birgmingham/Eastbourne, but that wasn't the case before), also I miss the straight link to head-to-heads:(

there is still some work to be done with Kaias new website but the head-to-heads are there when you click on the opponents name in the statistics or below to the head-to-head link on the day when the match is being held. the calendar is being updated according to Kaias schedule.

I know I can find the head-to-heads. I just liked the list better (for example to browse through the names list, and easily see who she has never played with).
The best thing about the new layout (which has nothing to do with layout though) is Kaia's own comments, and updated pictures. :)

So, Kaia has entered the following WTA level tournaments till the end of the season:

Seoul, starting Sept 17

Tokyo, starting Sept 23; QF 225 points to defend

Beijing, starting Sept 29; r3 140 points to defend

Moscow, starting Oct 15; F 320 points to defend

Kaia finishes this controversial season at #19, her best year-end rank to date (that including three 0 pointers).

It's beneficial in a way that she can receive a top 20 WC next season, should she need it.

Yes, but Helsinki's points don't really matter, because the year-end rank is locked after Sofia finishes. After this, the points count towards the next season, and the race re-starts (so you can see some unusual names in the top of the race till January:lol:).

WhoAmI?
Dec 12th, 2012, 05:39 PM
She usually plays the bigger tournaments if she gets to the main draw. I think it's most likely she'll start with Paris indoors, followed by Doha and Dubai (I don't think she'd get to the main draw in the latter though).. (or maybe even Memphis-Acapulco). Either way, I hope she'll be at least back for IW-Miami.

They stay the same as 2012 with Doha being a P5 and Dubai being a Premier.

The rankings date used for seeds in 2012 for

Doha was February 6th
Dubai was February 13th

If the rankings date stays the same as last year Kaia may be able to benefit from playing in Paris (Premier). She will be safe enough for entry to Doha (56 player draw). But she stands to lose 570 points from missing Brisbane and the Australian Open which could leave her in the late 30s in rankings. That could be too low for entry to Dubai (28 Player draw) with 8 of the Top 10 playing there this year. But a good run in Paris could change that of course :)

Kaia's grass season looks to be just 2 tournaments

The Dutch Open (Den Bosch/Rosmalen/Top Shelf Open/??? it has too many names:sobbing:)

Wimbledon

After that it's interesting.. will she return to clay, or take some time off and prepare for the US swing. There are Palermo and Bastad back-to-back after Wimbledon. She hasn't even had a chance to play in Palermo after she won there 2 years ago.. so maybe this year..

I think she should try and play as much as she can without getting injured :)
I really hope that Kaia can one day get that SF of a GS that she never got at Wimbledon :(

If she can win one of Bastad or Palermo and then whore up the points at Standford, Carlsbad etc. she should dbe close to Top 15 :D Although those tournaments will be stronger this year due to there being no Olympics :(

Still, I think a Career High for the end of the year should be Kaia's goal :D

If she can make the QF (which is very very achievable given how bad Na has been) then she will almost be Top 20 with virtually no points to defend for 9 Months :D

WhoAmI?
May 28th, 2013, 08:43 PM
Well, I'd rather she'd take it maybe a bit more lightly, doesn't need to travel tournament to tournament as long as she could just you know.. win them  quality over quantity

Anyway, so much for my Palermo guess.. she's entered to Budapest! along with CSN, Cornet, Safarova, Halep to name the currently hot names + Pironkova (grass hot). But this is still so far away, who knows their forms by then..

I wish Kaia had played either Birmingham or Nurnberg (preferably Birmingham Qualies to get some match practice) this week to get her back on the right track in terms of confidence :(

Aside from Jankovic in Nurnberg, she really could have won either tournament IMO and its tournaments like these which she needs to give her confidence and points :(

BTW, is Kaia rich, as she doesn't seem to A) have many sponsors or B) be much of an extravagent spender, although I have heard she has a car, but it didn't seem ridiculously expensive from what I saw

In Birmingham she would have been seeded. Besides isn't Birmingham known for lousy weather also? She might be have the bad-weather-quota filled for a while now. She was a top seed there a few years ago, but lost to Arina Rodionova, their match was moved from center court to somewhere else to like court 2 or so. In one of her interviews she reminds this as one of her worse losses.

There was this article 3 years ago http://www.ekspress.ee/news/paevauudised/sport/kanepi-olen-voimeline-kumne-hulka-tousma-kull.d?id=31575981 I don't think it's changed drastically, so.

I know but I still think that it would have been beneficial :)
If she had played she would have been 3rd Seed: She would get a BYE, then probably Pironkova, then Jovanovski, then Ula Radwanska, then Flipkens and then Lisicki, Makarova, Robson or Paszek

They are all winnable IMO even in Roland Garros form so unless she is intentionally playing a small schedule to prevent injury, I think that she really could/should have played here

Well, she's entered to

Washington
Toronto (with SR)
