Thank you! I can't wait either! My favourite show along with Billy Elliot though Les Miserables has better music.

I'm worried about her casting too. She's too old. But I hope it's ok. Hugh Jackman and Russell Crowe are inspired choices and should be great.

I'm just glad the early rumors of the emotionally vapid of Taylor Swift are no longer the case.

So looking forward to it!
Although i kinda wish Amanda Seyfried played Fantine and Anne Hathaway played Cosette.

But Cosette is really not an impactful female character in Les Mis. The role is more of a plot driver, but the character development is rather blah. I think the most coveted female songs are I Dreamed a Dream (bet Anne was dying to have this role) and Eponine's On My Own and A Little Fall of Rain.

Oscar bait?

Whatever, they can not beat this version of I dreamed a dream

:bounce: Looking forward to this one, too... Ann's vocals are not quite as solid as they could be, but what bothers me the most about this short excerpt is that she is verging on over-dramatic since the very first verse of this number.

Sure, "I dreamed a dream" is about loss and sorrow... but I'd expect an emotional crescendo to it, while this sounds a little too much, a little too soon. Anyway, Fantine's never been my favourite character in the show, so... :tape:

Should have brought back the legendary Frances Ruffelle to play Eponine....even if she is 48 now;) Her "On My Own" is unmatched. I think she is playing a minor role in the film so that is something I guess.

:hysteric: I felt the same before Black Swan.

So apparently this is getting huge Oscar buzz and looks to be an early frontrunner. This looked bad to me before and now that I found out Tom Hooper directed this. Ugh. I hated The Kings Speech.

Still pissed they went for names over talent. :o

Sam from I'd Do Anything, though! :hearts:

EDIT: Having watched the extended trailer I can start to understand why they went for actors over singers! Could be amazing! :speakles:

VERY mixed reviews. It would be a joke if it wins and even worse if Tom Hooper wins. I really don't like his work.

I fear Victor Hugo will most likely turn into his grave cause it doesn't look good. Just remember Bel-ami of Donnellan&Ormerod which was the biggest outrage towards France of the XXI century.

i had a bit of a lauging fit when i saw this trailer at the movies last week. and i was instantly reminded why i hate musicals with a vengeance.
