Is that the same Alipieva that played in the Copenhagen WTA event? Glad to see her again :spit:

Yes. She's very young. Good luck to her.
I am so shocked about Kimberley though. The Estonians (Mia counts as Estonian) have fared very well though.

IMO, Olga Fridman as Tennis Europe Former #1 is the favourite. I can't believe they are playing this at Nomme instead of Tere

For a G4, this field isn't bad. BTW, is Olga actually from Ukraine because she doesn't have a very Ukrainian last name

Yes, Simone Alipieva played against Chakvetadze in Copenhagen.

There are lots of Fri(e)dmans in the former USSR. Jewish ethnicity likely.

I'm only guessing, but maybe Simone's match was played early today, and then there was a rain delay delaying the remaining schedule until 4PM (she does mention rain on her fb, so this scenario seems likely).

What a win for Fridman  Paalma is almost 4 years older
Alipieva also defeated the first seed so easily. It looks like the '98 generation is as tough as the '97 :D

Olga Fridman seems really strong here! Alipieva's win is also very good. I'm actually a bit surprised by Alipieva's form this week. She was with the Danish Team winning the Nordic Team Championships last week (first time in 17 years that Denmark won the event!). But she only played one singles match, and lost, while the other Danish U15 girls won two matches each. So I didn't expect too much from Simone here in Estonia.

Simone is a fantastic doubles player though, and she won all her doubles matches at the Nordic Team Championships. Her volleys are just beautiful! She's playing doubles with Olga Fridman in Estonia, and they're in the semifinal.

A final between the two would be cool but that's probably asking too much. They played a Tennis Europe (http://te.tournamentsoftware.com/sport/draw.aspx?id=EEB02297-4F3D-4386-82D7-CC64DED97ED9&draw=3) SF gainst each other in 2011. Simone won 0-6 6-3 6-0 (weird score!). Olga would probably be the most likely winner today.

EDIT: As mentioned by juki in the previous post.

Good fight from Vorobjova! As for Paalma - she will be 18 soon enough and can't win a (QF of a) junior G4. Has she ever even? Maybe tennis is not something she should consider further..

She has made 2 finals. She has a lot of potential as seen in this video:
http://sport.err.ee/tennis/videod/d49261c5-372e-4493-95a8-9e19b74d0eb5

She doesn't like the juniors pushers. I wouldn't recommend her going into tennis. I like her but there is no point in going into tennis unless you see yourself being top 100 because you can't make a living unless you reach that level.

Tatja is so incosistent. Its a shame Erika didn't play here, she could have done really well :)

I'm not too surprised. Too bad Simone's injury forced her and Olga to give a walkover in the doubles. Still a good tournament for the two '98 girls (by far their best ITF performances).

And congrats to Tatjana and Harriet :)

Tatjana is the biggest choker of all the Estonians. Lost in the final of AOTK and Pajulahti to oppnents way worse than her who she would have beaten in straights normally but got beaten averagely. I still don't know how she lost to a Brit, in clay (her favourite, her opponents worst) at home

Still, she shocked me by making it this far :)

She's very good at doubles (she doesn't choke in it ) so it is a shame that they won by walkover. They deserved the honour of actually winning

Anyway, her ranking will go up nicely

She holds 3 doubles titles and 3 singles finals :rocker2:
