Name changes stink and I don't like them.

I have a simple solution for people who change their names. I don't bother to figure out who they were before. Obviously being familiar to people is not important to them, so I don't sweat it much.

Except of course for Rebecca. When she made the radical change from "Becca", she made a point of alerting people.

Not "everyone" is doing it.

A very small handful of people doing it.

Hitman - anyone you need to know about, I will tell you :p

And some people STILL mention it when trying to insult me.

"Okay well then Rebecca/Becca, or whatever it is you are called LOL"

MORONS!

Okay then, Rebecca...if that IS your real name.

Love, Bobby

Hey Hitman! :wavey:

Lovely to see you here! :bounce:

My name is still the same. ;) Of course not many people here know me, so it's kinda irrelevant. :p

I find it even more confusing than you because I've just gotten to know and remember some of the posters' names and now it takes me a while to make the connection.

Now this is a worthwhile thread. I was wondering what the hell was going on around here...now I know.

Thankfully, most of the posters I care about haven't felt the need to rebaptize themselves, or I'd be in a sorry state. :o

Hitman, you should change your name too, so that you are harder for me to track down and slap.

Ok, and then I add the classic "Formerly hitman" in my sig, right? :o

YOU deserve a slap for that...

Hitman, there is a story to go along with that.

I'll tell you about it someday, if you ever sign into MSN :D

Hitman - either "the poster formerly known as", or "the artist formerly known as" - I've seen both.

OR - you could always be one of those "trying to hide my identity types" - and just not tell anyone about the name change, and put nothing in your signature.

If you dont' want me to "find" you, then that is the best idea.

Two weeks ago I was at a birthday party and met a girl there who was clearly a huge tennis fan as well. It was fun discussing tennis with her. It was clear that she knew a lot about tennis, that was following it all online. Then I started thinking that maybe she posts here too, who knows.

I often go home for the weekend. When I sit at the computer there browsing wtaworld, it often happens that my father's looking over my shoulder, "what's it you're doing?"

A couple of years ago, when I didn't have an internet connection i my own room, I sat in the Uni computer rooms a lot. One day, when I was chatting a newbie entered the chat room. He was nice and all, had been chatting with others for a while. Yet, when I came in the room he seemed desperate to leave right away, didn't want to say where he was from, etc. Turned out he was sitting in the same computer room, he'd always wanted to chat online but didn't know where to find a chatroom. One day he'd looked over my shoulded, copied the URL and ta-dam...

Anyway, what I'm trying to say is that I've never used a nick online. I always enter forums using my real name. It's because the message boards I've been visiting for more than 5 years are like that, they don't like nicks over there. So I came here using my real name as well.
After a while I started to realise that maybe this wasn't such a good idea. I don't want to be anonymous, I don't want to create distance, don't want to hide behind a nick, OTOH, I don't feel that everyone who knows me should read what I'm writing here. What I write here is addressed to the people who post here.

Now that lots of posters were changing names, I thought I might as well do the same. I'm still looking for a decent nick though.

Good to see you back Hit :)

Yeah the whole name change has been a bit confusing, I'm too boring to even think of changing my name :p
