I feel that raw foot speed is one of the few qualities between men and women that can be considered comparing (and still people may make an argument for one gender over the other). So who has the best raw foot speed at their peak?

(SEE POLL)

Others to consider:
Gilles Simon
Gael Monfils
Li Na
Franny Schiavoni
Jie Zheng
JW Tsonga
Kie Nishikori
Andy Roddick
JC Ferrero

Venus for women and Nadal for men

But I'd still go with Nadal being able to outpace Venus :P

VENUS, just amazing movement even now... Amazing how she moves... Graceful and fast Like gazzel

ROGER, at his peak he didn't run he glided he was and is the best mover I've ever seen in the men's game.

I think Djokovic might win this...... i think he might be able to outrun Nadull ( i esp like those splits)

JJ in her peak reminds me so much of Djokovic, movement wise

^ I was thinking of Mauresmo, but I think she was a great mover because of her foot work more than foot speed......but thats my opinion

Just like MArtina Hingis as well

not that he is mentioned here but at his prime and when was much younger Hewitt was very quick around the court. Always made his opponent play that extra ball.

Venus was very fast around the court especially in the early 00s a player would hit a shot that you would swear would be a cross court winner Venus would manage to get to it and hit it cross court for her own winner.

2000-2002 Venus, by far. She had a marathon-runner-like build.

I was talking about the women only, since this is the women's tennis forum.

On the men's side it's inarguably Nadal.

In terms of natural acceleration? Venus for sure on the women's side out of that list.

Venus is not the fastest at all in terms of raw speed. She's a bit too long legged and takes big steps when she's running. In fact I remember she was not that much faster than Serena back in the day (Venus' big advantage is/was of course acceleration and "vertical speed" (ability to leap).

I think Justine Henin (since this is WTAworld I voted for her :oh:).

For men it's Nadull.
