Venus is tennis legend. It has been amazing 18 years for her and us, tennis fans.

I think however that Venus should retire after the Olympics. It is just getting tough to see a player of her caliber losing more and more, and it is going to get worse considering her age and sickness. Time to move on to better things in life, Queen Venus.

venus still can bagel all four players should retire that younger than here (including craybas who is older)

but for her to win against current top 15 (excluding cowoz) is 30/70

Actually things could get better for Venus. Venus was not ready to come back in March, Venus was actually planning to come back in July. Venus was forced to come back before she could really prepare her body for the tour to qualify for the Olympics. Venus is growing stronger and stronger and has actually put in some good runs since she returned.

Venus is going to be THIRTY TWO YEARS OLD next month and you really think she's going to get better? Do you HONESTLY believe Venus can win another grand slam? Because for champions like Venus she is not going to be satisfied losing in the quarterfinals or fourth round of events. Justine Henin QUIT because she realized her career at the top of the WTA was OVER.

How many women have won grand slams beyond age thirty on the WTA Tour? I think Martina Navratilova, Chris Evert in the modern era maybe Billie Jean king too and that's it.

Venus is just making herself look bad it will be very hard for Venus to beat a top player like Maria Sharapova again. Venus can win matches against the nobodies but can she beat the best? And when I mean best I don't mean Petra Kvitova or Samantha Stosur. Can Venus beat Serena in a grand slam or Kim Clijsters or Maria Sharapova? I doubt it and the only way Venus is going to reach the top again is IF she can beat the best.

I don't see it happening anymore for Venus. Venus hasn't beaten Clijsters since 2005 and she hasn't beaten Serena since I think 2008 so like four years ago.

By this logic, 95% of the tour should retire

blah, blah, blah just shut up already. Venus is a fighter and she's not playing blind anymore without knowing what's wrong with her. Venus will beat Maria and the rest of the top ten again. She already beat Stosur and Kvitova so 8 more to go. And Yes, I honestly believe Venus will win another slam!

Yep. If you're playing tennis solely for financial reasons then there's something wrong. Jill is still capable of winning matches and making a decent living from doing something that she loves, I don't see why she should stop just because of her age (in tennis years) and the fact that she isn't making millions each year.

Venus has beaten 2 top 5 players this year, playing a very limited schedule. A number of players in the top 10 can't beat one let alone two top 5 players.

Venus should continue to play, but just limit her schedule.

All things considered Venus has actually done well so far. She's beaten 2 top 5 players and only lost to Radwanska, Stosur, Kerber, and Sharapova. There are top 10 players who have worse results than that.

Totally agree. In all honesty Venus has, by a fairly substantially distance, exceeded my own personal expectations for her and I thought she would do quite well too. But frankly her results, considering her age and the physical ailments she is having to deal with, have been pretty damn amazing in my book. Venus deserves nothing but huge credit, respect and admiration for the way she has handled herself and performed since returning to the tour this year.
