View Full Version : Predict Justine's performance as a commentator

Justine will be a commentator for the QF and later stages of Roland Garros for French television. How do you think she will do?

I don't recall her commentating before, if she has then you can base your opinion on that occasion.

I think she'll be very dry as a commentator, kind of like how I imagine she is in real life.
She'll talk about the match but won't add anything new to the broadcast.

that's interesting! can't wait to hear who she stans for while commentating

It gave me life to read "second-hand embarrassment" relating to Justine and Roland Garros.

LoveFifteen

Justine would probably only stan for Federer, and doubt they'll have her commentating on men's match.

I don't think Justine will match the wit of a Lindsay Davenport or a Sam Smith but at least compared to most commentators, she will be able to speak from experience at playing most of the players she will be commentating on, which gives her a huge advantage over dinosaurs like Tracy Austinosaurus. She will also avoid the hero-worship of some of the older commentators which makes them so unpalatable as there is no-one left in the game who Justine hasn't beaten at some point or other. Hopefully she can throw in a few pieces of personal insider info, just to tantalise us.

sweetadri06
May 21st, 2012, 09:51 PM
She won't be as witty as some others, but she will be very knowledgeable, and has experience playing most of the players unlike the commentators in the US.

Third option. She never had anything interesting to say. Her press conferences were so f-ing boring, just like her personality.

I think she will be fine, insightful and fair. Also, she will be speaking in French, which is her native language. I would love to have her do commentary with John McEnroe at the USO. I found her press conferences interesting in that her comments were thoughtful and intelligent, even though her English got in the way some of the time. At least the French seem to like her and appreciate her accomplishments.

I guess not, Backiana will always be the blonde whore on stage.

Can't wait to listen to Juju, she will probably be more relaxed and comfortable in her native language. Can't wait to see what she looks likeas well, i remenber some of her last pics where she looked dead skinny

She win definitely be on the side of versatile, all-court players like Sveta, Sam, Fran, Serena, Na Li.

Cant see her praising Wozniacki, Radwanska, Sharapova, Kvitova and other pushers/ballbashers.

She will want to see some constructing points on clay, playing slice in defence, coming to the net to finish off points with volleys.

Im curious to hear her commentary.

I seem to remember her once saying in an interview that she didn't watch a lot of WTA Tennis, only ATP as a spectator. If that's the case, she'd be better off commentating on men's matches.

I predict she will peak in the semifinals, before choking in the final and be too nervous to say anything and suffer the indignity of being overshadowed by Golovin.

I can't think of a rivalry on the women's side with more hatred, gamesmanship, and post-match interview cattiness than Justine/Serena--so it should be interesting. :D

(500+ if it's about Serena or Maria)

not sure but I'm curious to know who she'll cheer for and who shes gonna bash :oh:. She once revealed that she likes Sveta's game and hoped she'd win the FO. :oh:

she also said she doesn't think Maria has the game to win RG, but that was a few years ago. Well, she dislikes her so...

I think she will make interesting analysis. Though I don't know why but I feel she will manage to throw shades at Serena or Maria. I mean, she talked about the hand in 2011, 8 years after that happened. Plus she will be with Luyat and Golovin. Yes Golovin. Who loves gossips and bitchy comments.

She will be commentating women tennis in the second week, so please, ladies and gentlemen, let's all pray for a Serena-Maria showdown.

She's got rather a quiet and introverted personality off the court, but on the other hand, I can see her being very insightful and technical about the women's game. She was the queen of variety after all.

do we still want to witness the herpes? :hysteric:

Why do people find mouth herpes (which can be from childhood or a simple kiss), especially on this board in the case of Justine, cause for pointing at and ridicule? I dislike Justine as much as the next person, but I never found bumps on her lip as a reason to make fun of her. Ridiculous.

I have no opinions otherwise on this topic. I won't be listening to her.

I too found the herpes insults stupid and childish.

As for her commentary? I think she'll be insightful but pretty safe and boring... like most players after they retire.

She's not Serena/Davenport/Hingis/Navratilova.

Golovin doesn't have a legacy to protect  Plus there's no way Tati's coming back.

I'm not sold on Henin being 100% retired. Imagine 2013 or 2014 with Venus, Kim and Serena all retired. I'd like Justine's chances if she came back

Oh my god, you are more delusional than me !

No way in hell. She is busy trying to procreate.
No but seriously, her elbow is broken, and she has been super clear : tennis yes , but not professional. Just exhibitions for charity stuff.

Justine  miss you so... I am sure she'll be great commentating in French, she always was extremely thoughtful in her interviews, which native English speakers failed to see while criticizing her for not spewing air-headed BS in a fake accent.

I think she'll be respectful towards all players while pointing out the nuances of the game some players bring to the court. She always had glowing words for everyone when she was playing.

Do not expect her to giggle and joke around too much though.
