View Full Version : Who is in danger of missing the YEC?

Based on the players that made the YEC last year, I'd say Wozniacki and Kvitova are in big trouble. Extending this to the alternates, no way for Petkovic while I think Bartoli might sneak in the top 8 this time around.

Li is shaky as well and I have to wonder about Stosur.

Possibly lots of different faces for this year's YEC.

Oh and I forgot about Zvonareva. Not seeing her this time around.

Kvitova's definitely gonna make it. She'll probably do very well on grass, those plus the AO semi and some other good tourneys should be enough to get her there. Wozniacki's making it too; her favorite part of the season is right around the corner.

Locks:
Azarenka
Sharapova
Radwanska
Serena

With 3 slams left, you can't even guess. If I had to, I'd say Bartoli is in. She plays a deep enough schedule to replace her stupid losses with impressive runs. I think Kvitova is going to be alright as well. She won't be top 2, top 3, but she'll hang in the top 8.

Danger: Zvonareva, Bartoli, Clijsters. Possibly Kvitova if she doesn't defend Wimbledon or atleast make the final, the summer hardcourt season is not her strong point. Wozniacki will probably grab a title in the summer so i think she barely makes it.

Zvonareva is out. She'll inevitably lose in the 1st round at the French and she won't do much at Wimbledon either.

Hopefully Bartoli gets bumped out too.

Wozniacki should make it, Kvitova too hopefully.

I expect the final 8 to be

V Azarenka
M Sharapova
S Williams
A Radwanska
A Kerber
S Stosur
P Kvitova
C Wozniacki

Great line up if you ask me

Among the players who made it to YEC last year, I'd say Zvonareva, Wozniacki and may be even Kvitova (unless she miraculously gets her form and defends her Wimbledon title)

where is li na? I think she makes it too. It's very crowded in the race right now.

I'd also say Azarenka, Sharapova, Serena, and Radwanska are almost sure to make it if they stay healthy. Granted that part of it is always up in the air. I also think that if Li keeps up her current "good-but-not-great" form she should make it by virtue of having more consistent results than those behind her. If Kvitova can avoid completely flopping during the US hardcourt season she should make it as well since that part of the year is sandwiched by the grass and indoor "seasons" (more like a week here and there).

The last 2 spots will probably be fought over between Kerber, Wozniacki, Bartoli, and Stosur. I think Errani's year after the clay season will be solid but unspectacular so she should drop out of the race at some point and Ivanovic just can't win the big matches at the moment she needs to really put herself in the serious discussion. If I had to guess I would say it ends up:

1) Azarenka
2) Sharapova
3) Radwanska
4) Serena
5) Li
6) Kvitova
7) Kerber
8) Stosur

With Wozniacki and Bartoli rounding out the #9 and #10 spots as alternates.

I say itīs not looking good for Alberta Brianti after her tough loss to Paszek.

She'll be fine. She won't lose another match.

Damn, can't believe I forgot her. She'll definitely be up there. She'll end the year as #6 or #7. Wozniacki will be out of the top 8 by year's end.

Still a great line-up (even better with Li instead of Wozniacki, sorry Caro)

I think that the current race will set the stage for the restof the season. These are not in order:
Azarenka
Sharapova
Radwanska
Williams
Li
Kerber
Kvitova
Wozniacki

Alternates are one of:
Kanepi
Bartoli
Stosur
