Great win for the promising youngster Alison! :)

She plays the winner of Pavlyuchenkova/Scheepers in Round 2.

Her results are so strange, losing in $10Ks but then doing fine when she gets WC into WTA tournaments.

Well done! She hadn't done anything significant since 's Hertogenbosch last year. It was looking so good when she went like 25-1 on the ITF circuit, made a 25k final, 2r+Q at Brussels then qualifying for another WTA maindraw defeating several top 100 players on the way.

Hopeless Ksyusha
AVU done nothing since her 1 win in Brussels 12 months ago, losing in 10ks etc.

Well done!

(I'd been thinking of Alison recently and also An-Sophie Mestach: I've been wondering what's happening with her career too)

:)

Wow, saw her lose the second set and figured she would lose in the end. This is a good win for her!

Mestach hasn't been able to play much the past year due to a wrist injury. Not sure when she will be back in action.

Mestach only played one tournament in the last twelve months, losing to Gronert 4 & 3 in AO Q .

Well done Alison. :bounce:

Honestly I haven't been worried about the lack of results this last year. At her age results and ranking don't matter. Tricky thing is, what does matter is the stuff us as fans don't get to see or know about. But getting a positive result every so often is nice and it does reassure that the time Alison is spending outside of competition is going well. :)

Last year, she won against Schnyder.

That just shows that slumping Top 100 player are not better than any ITF players ranked between 300 and nowhere.
The depth in women's tennis is great.

Agree that the depth of women's tennis is pretty decent right now but it has to be said Alison Van Uytvanck is no ordinary between 300 and nowhere ranked player. This girl has a very good future ahead of her if she does the right things.

She said in an interview she has diffuculties coping with the pressure of being the tournament favorate, hence her losses in 10K's. Yesterday she felt liberated because she was the absolute underdog. The game is there but she obviously still has some work on the mental aspects.
