If Sania is ambivalent about whether or not to continue her singles tennis career, this result really is exhibit A in defense of her carrying on. Pretty clear already from Sania's results in qualifying this week that she still has some game left. In this form she could most definately be very dangerous in the main draw too.

Also must be pointed out that while it would be easy to assume with this scoreline that this was probably the result of something wrong with Tsurenko the fact that Sania also won the 1st 8 games against Rodionova suggests otherwise.

She doesn't need to win now, since Rus and Ula both won, so she could enter main draw as LL

Like I said in the Rodionova match thread, Sania is a totally different player when she is healthy. Playing singles and doubles and qualifying every week takes it toll after awhile. Laying off for a bit has obviously helped her recover physically.

I think I was the only real spectator watching this match - the other people there were Sania's dad and a chap who was with him, and someone who looked like Tsurenko's coach!

Anyway, as the scoreline suggests this was excellent from Sania - very aggressive, hitting winners at will, she even served well by her standards. Her movement was difficult to gauge as it was a match of very few rallies, both because Mirza was so aggressive and Tsurenko was very poor. No fight from her at all and she seemed to serve lots of double faults.
