Hello Mr. Heng!:wavey:

I think it is almost as hard to predict as last year.

S. Williams is a favourite for sure, she played rather solid, has yet to lose a match on clay, she is the toughest competitor mentally.

Sharapova improved her movement a lot, the heavy balls should be in her favour, as well as the relatively fast court. She is one of the best clay court players right now, despite her below average footwork. Her service motion is a huge risk factor though, extremely vulnerable.

Stosur is a little bit limited at RG because of the unreceptive balls. They seem to spin less and make it much easier for Stosurs opponents to counter her top spin and kick. That means she needs to rely on her BH and I seriously doubt that she can for a whole tournament.

V. Williams surprised me in Rome, though she still lacks clay court movement. I don't think she can win RG, but otherwise I cannot predict anything.

Kvitova showed some more mature clay skills, she played some great tennis against Kerber, but she is still Kvitova.

Kerber never made it past round 2 in Paris, however, she looks like she should have a talent for clay. She is fast, her footwork isn't that bad, she has good rally construction abilities and a counter-punch that actually has some "punch" in it.

Li looks like the best clay court player out there, but only for a limited period of games. She has yet to win a match against a serious opponent this year, despite being the better player in most of her defeats. QF maximum.

Kvitova is unpredictable. She can beat anyone except Serena at RG.

If Serena is healthy, she will win it.

Serena is the player to beat, with Maria, Sam and maybe Na as her main rivals. I voted for Sam for sentimental reasons, but also because I think she is the player who has the best chance of beating an in-form Serena.

Either Serena or Maria. I'll be shocked if it's anyone else tbh.

If Serena plays like she did in Charleston and Madrid then there's not much anyone can do.

If Serena somehow loses before she meets Maria (she has always went on to win the title after beating Maria, so if they meet before the final she'll win the whole thing probably), Maria will see too big a chance to even contemplate choking the opportunity. Maria beat everyone on clay this year: newcomers, top players, have-beens, journeywomen and claycourters, except Serena.

It'll be one of them.

Serena - Nobody has beaten her yet, and she's beaten 3 of her main rivals (Vika, Maria, Stosur) convincingly on the clay already!

Maria - Great form, best tennis in years, but HAS to avoid Serena, and may be wandering into peaked too early/played too much zone
Li Na - Finally found some form, and defending champ so giving her some respect. Could epically brainfart in R2 though :o
Vika - Only this low because i think she'd due a bad tournament and i think it'll come here!

Stosur - Historically plays well here, and if she avoids her nemesises (Venus and Maria) she could well be at the business end.

The Rest- Everyone else would be a shock. Obviously some players in here can win slams, Ana, Sveta, Fran, Venus etc but you'd be shocked if one of them and many others won it.

She is beating even her bad matchups now while playing shttastic tennis herself...she also hits the heaviest ball on average and other chicks have a hard time handling the weight of the shot. Now all she needs to do is somehow return her serving proficiency to Stuttgart level and it will be a walk in the park.

colt13

As usual. anybody in the top 20 can win it. Schiavone was 17th when she won, and this is the darkness slam. Some contender will not be able to complete their match and pay for it down the line. The big 4 of this season so far have been Maria, Serena, Vika and Aga. And Vika and Aga did not win clay titles this year. So that opens up a draw slightly, as does the fact that Kvitova has never been past the 4th round here.Former winners Li, Schiavone and Ivanovic should probably win a couple of rounds, plus unseeded Venus, who can blow up the draw. So expect Maria or Serena, not both, another top 8 player, and 2 first time SF. I'm predicting one of those from Kvitova's 1/4.

She usually has one off day which happens in the quarter finals or 4th round. If she comes upon a motivated Stosur or Kuznetsova then she might have to make a comeback, but this is clay...

It is going to depend on the draw mostly if Serena can get through to the second week she will face either 1-4 in the QF and that is likely where she may fall if she isn't on top of her game. All things being equal Serena could raise the trophy 10 years after her first title at Roland Garros. Sharapova will likely have the same fate but the draw will likely be kind to her and she should see herself to the QF or SF at a minimum. I don't really see anyone else coming through the draw unless its Azarenka or Radwanska.

Serena

Pros: Easily the player to beat. Untouchable in both Charleston and Madrid.

Cons: Hasn't made it past the QFs of RG since 03. It's not the first time she's come into RG with good form leading in either.

Sharapova

Pros: Playing the best tennis of her second career thus far. Serving was superb in Stuttgart.

Cons: Has been a major flop in all of her big matches in slams over the past few years. Was getting outplayed for the 1st set and a half against Li, and her serve is still a question mark in windy conditions.

Vuvuzenka and Hagatha

Pros: They'll be there if the draw falls apart.

Cons: They're always in danger of getting hit off the court by a basher on a hot-streak. Vuvuzenka even moreso on clay.

Ludmila

Pros: Her GOAT form has to start re-appearing at some point, right?

Cons: As alluded to, her form all year has been consistently meh, she's injured and the surface means she'll have to rally no matter what. Not bombing out early will be a success.

Li

Pros: Over the course of the clay-court swing, she's been playing herself into form, much like how she went about her preparations for RG last year.

Cons: She could throw in a self-destruction at any given moment, and everything about this defense has first-week-exit written all over it.

Stosur

Pros: Her best surface, and has big credentials at RG.

Cons: No big results on clay this year. She was crap against Venus last week. Such a big match-up player that a bad draw could kill her chances completely.

Venus

I'm sure she's just aiming to win a few rounds.

Until Serena loses, she is always the favorite for me.

But at RG she has some of her worst Slam performances. So even though I chose Serena, my second choice is "Hard to Say". If Serena has a bad day, this is the one Slam where it seems it's a little harder for her to power through. And if Serena AND Maria somehow lose, all hell will break loose and it's anyone's guess as to the winner.

It'd be a total nightmare for whichever top 3 players that could draw Rena in QF.

Radwanska is a sure lock for QF IMO unless she faces her nemesis like Cetcovska :tape: if she got through deeper than that Azarenka will still be there to get rid of her.

And don't forget players like Pennetta, if any player who can beat Maria in the first week, Flavia is the one IMO.

we need to see the draw and I think we can be more certain for who has the best chance to win :)

Well in my opinion Sereta is far more likely to lose to a lesser player mainly because she can't/won't/doesn't summon her bitch killing mode. The biggest thing players at the echelon must fight is lack of motivation or boredom. Sereta cares far less about winning a tournament than she does about continuing her revenge against Sharapova or continuing her "real number 1" crusade.

I guess what I am saying is if she gets to QF and then must face Sharapova Azarenka and Stosur to win she will glare across the net get furious and run the table.
If she gets to the QF and must face some scrabbling junkballers like Errani or Madina-Gariques she is very likely to say screw this I'm going shopping

Serena
Why she'll win: Like everyone has said, she's the one to beat. She's been scary good on clay, especially in Charleston
Why she won't: A lot of weird losses at Roland Garros in the past. The last time she looked anywhere near this good coming in to Paris she lost to Srebotnik.

Maria
Why she'll win: She's improved her clay game immensely, comes into Paris as confident as she's been since her comeback
Why she won't: Serena Williams

Azarenka
Why she'll win: Has been grinding out wins like a boss this whole year, is mentally tough enough to go all the way if her draw permits
Why she won't: Doesn't move nearly as well on clay and her serve is even more of a liability than on hard courts

Stosur
Why she'll win: She's as close to a clay specialist as we've got these days. Her game is tailor made for it.
Why she won't: She's been maddeningly inconsistent since she won the Open

Li
Why she'll win: Has looked to be playing much better of late, and she usually plays well at the big events
Why she won't: She doesn't seem the type to stand up to the pressure of defending a major, can basically lose to anyone on a bad day

Kvitova
Why she'll win: She beats everyone but Serena if she's on
Why she won't: She hasn't really been 'on' since November

Radwanska
Why she'll win: She's having a career year and is a pro at taking advantage of her opportunities
Why she won't: Clay's by far her worst surface; Cetkovska's in the draw

Serena's the favorite, but I have a feeling this might finally be Maria's time.

It's a ranking based on the clay season results. Anyone in the top 10 can be a winner, but Errani .However top 4 in clay ranking are main favorites at Rolan Garros with slight edge for Serena, as winner over Vika and Masha on clay...

Wozniacki might have the best chance of beating Serena if they play, but the only way they would play is if it was a round of 16 match, and even if the took Serena out she would likely go out next round herself. Almost everyone in the top 15 will likely beat Wozniacki now, many even more likely to than Serena, while virtually eveyrone in the draw will think they have a fighting chance vs her too.

ESPN is wrong in calculations , i think they have forgotten about Venus , but she is playing now as top 15 at least

Wozniacki might have the best chance of beating Serena if they play

After Serena woke up and become more concentrated she has no chances at all, second and third sets Serena finished on autopilot and Caro was helpless

I get what you mean, but Serena is just not the same player in Paris. If someone like Wozniacki takes her out I wouldn't be all that shocked.

1. Serena
2. Li
3. Sharapova
4. Cetkovska
5. Cibulkova
6. Stosur

Kvitova is unpredictable. She can beat anyone except Serena at RG.

If Serena is healthy, she will win it.

Petra Cetkovska? I wouldn't really put her in my top 25 let alone number 4...

Yes espn rankings are inaccurate. Lucie Hradrecka (forgive my awful spelling) has at least 450 points and is not on the that list.

Serena should win and if she doesn't Maria should win. Unfortunately I do not think either one of them will win.... this is the french open. Serena, literally has psyched herself out win it comes to the French Open. I have a bad feeling that this will be like 2008. She is playing great but will probably lose to some random person. Maria won't win it is plain and simple. Yes she has had a great clay season but I don't care...someone like Li Na or Flavia has the potential to take her out.

One thing that I would like to add about what everyone has deemed "generation suck" during the slams all the players seem to step up and play better..not just the top players. I mean the days of the top players running through "lesser players" are over. Most players now a days walk out onto to the court with the belief that if they can bring their A game that they are going to win the match that is forthcoming. This is why I do not like these polls much, because until the draw at the very least is presented to us then we are just guessing.

Having said that I hope Serena wakes up and walks out onto the court for every match with the attitude of I am going to win every point and stomp this girl into the clay.

Hopefully Serena can keep her form and walk away with the title. I just hope there won't be a letdown a la US open.
