Robin Gibb has died at the age of 62.

The Bee Gees star was reported to have passed away earlier today (May 20) after a lengthy battle with colon and liver cancer.

More to follow.

A great composer, I'll miss his musical genius.

Terribly  (especially for boomers like me) but totally expected, unlike Davy Jones or Donna Summer. Robin was in a coma weeks ago that he wasn't expected to awaken from, though he did.

As his twin brother Maurice died 9 years ago, eldest brother Barry is the only surving member of the Brothers Gibb (what the group name Bee Gees stood for).

Robin, say hello to Maurice (and much younger brother Andy, a solo performer never in the group, who died years ago of an OD) as well as your dog Shenandora, who's in the lyrics, at the site of IMO your greatest song:

My favorite Bee Gees song was sung by Robin, "Odessa (City on the Black Sea)". RIP.

Another of their great "soft songs' (left) and one that uncharacteristically had a strong backbeat (right)

This may sound harsh, but the only tragedy (ironically, the title of a Bee Gees 1979 #1 hit) is Andy's death, because it was the only one that was avoidable. Maurice and Robin died of natural causes.

Maurice and Robin died relatively young. The only surviving brother of the 4 is only 65 now.
