No offense, but all it shows is that she can't do it when it matters on a consistent basis.

Justine Henin @ FO '03

i don't see what that's got to do with it  but i hope you got some petty satisfaction from making your post

it must be rare for anyone to have had the chance, much less actually done it.

Serena in ' 02...she beat them back to back at Miami and at RG. Good for Masha too though, respect! :yeah:

There aren't usually 4 different women holding the slams.

Henin beat 3 current slam champs in the US Open 2007 - d. Serena/AO (QF), Venus/Wim (SF) she was the reigning FO champion, so she couldn't beat herself :p

ok, but as you say she couldn't beat herself so doesn't count :)

So the person has to be currently slamless then and they have to be 4 different people.

Yep, Henin beat Serena at Charleston 03, too.

Ciljsters defeated Kuznetsova in Cincinnati in 09 and then Serena at 09 USO.

Exactly. It's only been a recent thing where you win a slam and then can't back it up. ;)

oh my god, why do some people seem to think there's some crazy fan subtext to everything? or make some petty little derogatory remark?

i was asking from a neutral interest in the historical perspective.

sometimes this board really stinks.

that is kind of not the same seen as only 2 women held the 4 slams at that time.

that is like saying henin beating serena in 2003 is the same too as serena held all 4 slams

Well I think what he's saying is that The Lord beat them both, twice. Meaning at Miami she beat Venus(winner of 01 Wim) Jen(winner of 02 Oz) then at RG she beat Venus again(winner of 01 USO) and Jen again(winner of 01 RG) In that sense she beat the winner of all four previous slams at that point  For that Justine example to qualify, she would have to have beaten Serena four consecutive times in that span I guess.

Pam Shriver & Gabriela Sabatini managed to accomplish it in just one day. Each of the two won a match with Steffi when she was holding all the four titles. :)

can be achieved if 4 diff for 4 dif gs

how to achieve that before if graff won 4, seles won 3, serena won 3, hingis won 3, henin win 2, venus won 2, capriati won 2 mauresmo won 2, vicario won 2 in a year

Actually many people are pointing at Henin..
But if it has to be 4 different persons, no then.. although it's interesting that Serena even in ' 99 already had a thing for defeating reigning champs: beat Davenport ( Wimbledon winner, defending U.S. open champ) and Hingis ( Oz open champ)

Steffi almost did it at end 1998 when she beat Hingis, Novotna and Davenport. She never played RG Champ Vicario, but I think we can safely say would have beaten her at that time.
