Yes, I think only in Moscow won players from Russia as their home tournaments. Of course in near past. Cause e.g. Kimiko won Tokyo years ago :oh:

Rome (never happened while a Tier I or equivilant)
Tokyo (Kimiko Date - 1995)
Zurich (Martina Hingis - 2000)
Mosocw (Dementieva - 2007, Chakvedatze - 2006, Myskina 2003-2004)\

I included Tier I events as the old tier I events became either Madataory or Premier 5 events and Tier II became Premier and Tier III and below became internationals or some were simply cancelled.

Of course Cincinatti, Madrid, China and Doha were upgraded.

not many current top wta players from US (Ca,Fl), Esp (madrid), Chi (Beijing)...obviously no1 from uae & qatar (too busywith burqa), Can (mon/tor), Ita (Rome), Jpn (Tokyo)

apart from Williams sisters, Li Na, Schiavonne, Date
