2 things, the imporved quality of matches and consistency of results in general.
Also the constant shade and bitching between the current top 3 has been very amusing.

I've been loving the clay court season (bar Madrid) since Charleston. Maria beating Azarenka in the Stuttgart final was probably the most important victory she has had post-surgery, so that was definitely the highlight of the year for me.

I really am enjoying the consistency of top players, and they have the personalities to boot. Really hope the Azarenka-Sharapova rivalry lives up to its potential for the next few years.

Kerber is a very welcome newcomer too, and she's been growing on me a lot. She has really earned her spot in the top 10.

1) Venus's return
2) The blues

The whole blue controversy must go down in history. The aces, the whinging:tape:, the whining, the trophy, the booing of senior legends:help:, etc. :haha:  Love it!

So nice to see Venus playing like a fatalist. :) Whatever happens happens, and it is all good. Neck snap!

This year has been hellish for a Kvitova fan so far. Nothing really good has happened since she won Hopman Cup.

At Madrid, Serena's back to back 6-1, 6-3 beatdowns of Pova and Vika, the two players I hate most, was pretty sweet though.

Venus's comeback in Miami, especially considering like it looked like her career was over last August. Truly remarkable that she's still at a high level.

Of course Serena's Charleston/Madrid wins, finally asserting herself back into the top echelons of the game after that awful time in late 2010/2011.

I thought the first half of the year was a crock of shit tbh, but from Stuttgart onwards, it's been far more watchable. Even if for all the wrong reasons. Stuttgart in particular was a great event with Barthel showing tremendous promise, that fantastic Stosur-Sharapova match, and various highlights in between.

1) Stuttgart - For once an amazing line-up actually lived up to its billing! The final was disappointing, but the rest of it was great especially QF day, which was the best day of WTA tennis in 2012 so far.
2) The rise of Barthel & Kerber - Mona literally come out of nowhere, meanwhile Kerber has built on the US Open run with an incredibly consistent year so far and big wins too... i'm hoping both can make a deep run in one of the upcoming majors.

The clay season in general. It's been better this year than it has in ages. Hopefully RG won't disappoint.

I also actually really like Vika's AO win, and her win streak, though I wish it could've lasted longer to add suspense(like just long enough to get snatched by Ree Na.) All in all, I might be the only one, but I'm really happy with WTA at this moment. Hopefully we can see more good matches, the top players will actually continue to live up to their rankings, Serena will continue to snatch and slay, and Wozzy will continue to tumble down the rankings

More than anything I'm loving that the top players are making it to the later rounds and are finally playing each other more often. Even before Serena turned it up a notch I was already loving the 2012 season. It's honestly been one of the best seasons in some time. And now with the "meaty" part of the season coming up I'm hoping it continues.
