View Full Version : When Was Last Time Serena/Vika Won 2 Premier In 2 Weeks Ala Aga/Caro/Kim/Dinara ?

there are some #1s (and future #1s) that have what it takes to win two big Premier tournaments in two consecutive weeks ... we all know about Kim's 2005 Indian Wells / Miami, Dinara's legendary 2009 Rome / Madrid, Caro's 2010 Tokyo / Beijing and Aga's 2011 Tokyo / Beijing

on the other hand it seems like past #1 Serena and current #1 Vika don't want to risk their bodies to win two Premier events in consecutive weeks ... just looking at recent history:

2011
Vika reaches Madrid FINAL (plays same # of matches as winning) >>> retires in Rome QF
Serena wins Toronto >>> withdraws from Cincy after winning one match to attend a wedding
Vika reaches Toronto SF (plays one less match than winning) >>> withdraws from Cincy
Vika reaches Tokyo SF (plays one less match than winning) >>> withdraws from Beijing after playing one match

2012
Vika wins Doha >>> withdraws from Dubai
Vika reaches Madrid FINAL (plays same # of matches as winning) >>> withdraws from Rome after playing one match
Serena wins Madrid >>> withdraws from Rome

does the SEWTA need to stop holding 2 Big Premiers in 2 consecutive weeks :help:

IW/Miami aren't 1 week events, therefore Kim shouldn't count here :P

How can you remember to put Henin for 2002 and not Serena? Jeez.

Mauresmo was such a tool  in 2004 she could've taken advantage of the fact Handin was out to nab that Roland Garros. Instead she chose to lose badly to Dementieva of all people.

fixed it up. I dunno how I forgot to write up serena tho as she is usually the first name I think of when I think of players to play both.

Pressure on playing in front of home support. Same thing happens to aussies these days at Australian Open (male and female)
