Who has had the greater career thus far?

Too soon to tell, they both have been number 1 and won a slam but Ana has like 3 more years on the tour than Vika. Useless thread.

Ana has more slam semis and finals. Vika's gonna be catching up real soon though :o.

Somehow, I don't think this would have been asked if Vika was still in the draw

Ivonavic definetely, she can overpower the grinder at will, she is much more talented at her best than the other.

It's who is greater. Meaning accomplishments. And even with the matchup, Peak Aza>Peak Ana. Peak Ana isn't this God like being that you Anci tards hold on to and try to portray her as. Peak ana was losing to Dementieva in Rome, and losing sets to Szavay. :wavey:

Invalid comparison. Ana has had a longer career, though Azarenka's mental game and grinding will prompt her to have the more consistent career and eventually more successful unless Ana were to (somehow) get her act together). Give it more time for Azarenka.

What the fuck? Peak Azarenka better than peak Ana?? Ana is much more of a complete player than azarenka who just grinds all day. Ana has agression on her side and tries to finish the points when the opportunities appears, even at the net, something azarenka can only dream of.

You try to.diminish peak Ana, she was inconsitent her whole career, but when she played her best, only the best players could beat her(henin, serena, venus) people even compared her forehand with Graf

Azarenka on.the other hand has a rivalry with Radwanska and Servelesscrapova

Along with Aza having won almost half the number of titles Ana had ever won, in less than half a year right :wavey:

Peak Ana lost to davenport in '08, scraped past Bammer,Szavay on CLAY. Lost to Pironkova on CLAY. 'Nuff said. Peak ana lasted less than 30 seconds and that time elapsed four fricking years ago. she's done.:wavey:

azarenka - won gs in 1st attempt

I hope you realize that a match someone wins really can't be held against them. If anything, it just exemplifies the lack of fight Ana has displayed over her career and her predisposition for collapses.

Matches between the two are OFTEN very tight ones : The 4 last encounters ended in 3 sets...

Ana was down 06 02 against Hantuchova and managed to turn it around. She was also down 1-3 in the final set vs JJ at RG. She was capable of fighting back too.

Just so you know, I'm not a fan of Ana.

This for me is a trap door question. Because so sadly, we will never get to witness the greatnest that COULD HAD BE Ana Ivanovic. It very probable Viktoria at the end of her career will be holding more titles, so disturbing question.

Ana right now but Vika just needs to keep up with her form on hard courts!

Vika is a consistent No. 1. She also has more relevant titles. Plus, she beat real champions on her way to win her first slam.

Ana's "slam" and "No.1" ranking are anomalies of Justine's premature departure.

At this point in time, I would definitely take Azarenka. Her overall game is better than Ana, she has more power, and she is much less likely to choke !

At this moment in time, Ana. I think she's the more talented of the two and seems to have improved a few things in her game working with Sears. Azarenka is quickly catching up on her achievements, though.

Is this poll some kind of joke ?

Azarenka is more talented & on the rise, Ivanovic career is basically declining since the RG victory

Ivanovic's pitfalls overshadow any accomplishments.

Vika.

I think Azarenka will accomplish a lot more than Ivonavic, whoever that is. They have completely different games, but Victoria's mental strength will propel her to greater things than that serbian mental midget.

I never though I'd be praising Azarenka as a mentally tough player considering shit like this

 but she really has improved a LOT in that department.

Ana was making slam finals at a time Azarenka would have been irrelevant.

what kind of argument is this? :weirdo:

It seems pretty simple and not in need of explanation. If Azarenka were peaking in 2007-2008 when Ana made 3 finals and won a slam, she wouldnt have made it past the quarters of a slam probably. Anyway forget what ifs, Ana has 3 slam finals and Azarenka has 1. Azarenka has 2 Miami titles but a slam final beats a Miami title. So still Ana.

Temperenka
May 20th, 2012, 04:31 AM
Victoria. She is mentally tougher, more motivated, and a much better fighter. Ana's time has passed.

Ana may have more slam finals, but Vika has 2 Miami titles and an Indian Wells title (compared to Ana's lone IW title).

Ana is 3 yrs older than Vika. So bringing up this comparison clearly proves that she is better than Ana. Case. Closed.

Only idiots, fantards, Vika haters and Serbian nationalists would choose Ana over Vika at this stage in their careers. Looking at their overall tennis record (including doubles and mixed doubles), Vika's resume is FAR superior.

You 'forgot' Kim in your list of best players. Ana is Kim's punchbag :p

Azarenka leads 11-3 in the H2H against Radwanska, while Ana trails 3-4. Not sure if you understand the meaning of the word rivalry...

Azarenka is slightly better imo. Partly because she has a better doubles career and was number 7 in doubles while partnering with Pe'er and Bob Bryan in the French Open mixed doubles in 2008. She has won two grand slam mixed-doubles titles and was the fan favourite doubles team of 2011 along with Kirilenko. While Ivanovic has been in one doubles final only and no titles.

I wonder if Azarenka and Kirilenko will reunite and play doubles though, cause while Kirilenko-Petrova is not a bad team, the Kiri-Aza team had better results thus far.

On top of my head, based solely on achievements so far, I picked Vika. Though I started doubting my choice and looked up some simple stats:

Vika vs Ana
GS Titles: 1-1
GS Finals: 0-2 (not counting the wins)
GS SF: 1-1 (not counting the wins)
GS QF: 4-1 (not counting the wins)
Titles: 12-11
Weeks at #1:16-12
Winning %: 71,46-69,58

I still pick Vika, Ana is "only" leading in number of GS finals lost. IMO they don't make up for all the other stats in which Vika is leading at the moment

Azarenka, no question. Azarenka dominated the tour. Ivanovic won a slam and then disappeared. Azarenka defeated the top players to win her slam. Ivanovic only beat Jankovic and Safina. Azarenka defeated Clijsters and Sharapova.
