So far we had five retirements/withdrawals (Peng, Basczinsky, Wozniacki, Pennetta and Azarenka). They up there with Indian Wells for most retirements in a tournament award

And quite few  results. Pennetta whopping Cetkovska 6-0 6-1 one day after the Czech defeated Radwanska, King doing the same to Grassonkova 6-0 6-1, Dramabel had no mercy against Zheng 6-2 6-1...

Then we had people expecting SW to tank match against Voskoboeva, then against Petrova, then against Dramabel, and then against Pennetta (guess she surprised her by retiring  )...and yet she is on her way to another title :oh:

In the end we have two out of Top 4 in QF (and only four Top 10 player).

better some1 retire after down 0-4 to avoid former no 1 got bagel

at least 3 of 4 or all 4 semifinalists will be grand slam winner!

Nevertheless it's been a good tournament in terms of match-ups:

Serena-Petrova
Radwanska-Cetkovska
Maria-Venus
Stosur-Venus
...

I don't think Kerber has ever won a slam. But it has been a good tournament so far

I don't see how it is crazy. Maybe TF members' response to it has been crazy. Perhaps so. :)

This tournament I have viewed as more of a glass half filled. I Think some players are playing the cards close to her chests, with RG approaching. Some more new twists ahead, perhaps

I actually expected more precautionary retirements.

i thought kerber tried hard to lose vs rodionova - she looked unwell, played with a long sleeve top on. but rodionova was too bad to let her tank!

I have to agree...It has been quite crazy, no great matches so far, hopefully we will get Serena vs Sharapova in the final, that could make up for some of these things eventually.

I mean it wasn't a bad tournament, but now more than 10 years ago (top) players tend to care always more just about grand slams.

Btw Azarenka out, Kvitova basically out, many withdrawals, I mean I'm there and I always get to compare womens' and mens' matches and I have got to say the quality is very different and the gap (obviously not in the tennis level which is obvious, but in the tennis quality, number of silly errors, "drama") is really enourmous.

Where did I say that the tournament was bad  mess doesn't mean bad. SEVEN retirements, some crazy outcomes...that's all. In the end it was a good tournament.
