Görges is such a headcase from 0-2 to 4-3* 15-40. Kerber saves the two breakpoints, wins 19 of the next 21 points and 9 of the last 10 games.

True German no. 1. Who would have thought 1 year ago?

Julia's clay season has been a flop, really. Hope for some last improvements for Brussels and RG. Given that she can't even make it competitive vs. Barthel and Kerber on clay, she'll probably never beat another German player again (well, maybe a mug like Barrois) but not a relevant one.

angie is simply the better and more consistent (!) player atm

she will have a good shot for the semifinal against cirstea/kvitty.

Typical Julia!
Obviously had great chances to win first set but just was too brainless to take any of those!
As a viewer of the match said, she just needs to get stronger mentally, just went for winners all the time, wasn´t able to make the important points unlike Angie, who just is able to avoid errors and make the important points when it counts.

Serve went completely off then in 2nd set, lost it 5 times in a row, as often this year, no consistency there as well, awful

i saw the match, the 1st set has been so close and tight

julia just missed some important points, kerber didnt.

lost the 1st set, julia just tanked it and she started making just UEs, a pity :/

more Germans than Italian at the court, lol.

Julia is irrelevant. So much promise last year and then she flops to Bartoli out of all people at RG. It's been downhill since then.

Is clay really Angie's the worst surface? Cause after her results it's really hard to see it...

Congrats Angie :yeah: You did already a great job in Rome :worship:

It's a pity Julia's clay season isn't really standing up to the one she had on HC earlier in the season.

There are still people who believe Julia is great on clay.

She had one good string of results on clay due to some fortunate circumstances for her. Azarenka retiring in Stuttgart and drawing Borz who is a great matchup for her due to her high balls with low pace. Then she drew Borz again in Madrid.

As far as clay tennis goes and rallying, Julia lacks the patience and makes too many UE for any surface. I'd say slow hardcourt would be better suited for her game. She sucks everywhere though.

When Goerges start to concentrate more on the TENNIS, than HERSELF, then just maybe she could be a player

Hard working Kerber deserves all the credit, kudos

This. She even was trashed by Pous-Tio no less than 6-2, 6-1 in Indian Wells :oh:

There is some truth in it.
But what do you mean with "concentrating on herself" ?
I guess, she can`t get it together, means she is not concentrated on anything in these moments of a match.
If her "tennis" and she "herself" are the same then it might work.

Perhaps I am being too unkind but, she remind me of someone who, half an hour after she left the bathroom, the mirror is still warm!

She strikes me as being in the Mary Pierce mould. Perhaps not as talented, but a REALLY good player hiding in there somewhere.

Big turnaround from Kerber from the first round. Into the Qtrs now :)

It's sometimes been a good omen if she's scraped through the early rounds in tournaments, like in Indian Wells and Copenhagen.

Angie  All the best against Kvitova.

i think after serena, kerber could be a really good bet to go way deep in the FO.
